The contract that needs to go is Bogo, I defend this guy a lot but he STINKS

I really want him to be good but he makes it hard to root for him.

Agree on the analysis, and on that ROR is one to be moved. The market for top-6 2-way centres who win faceoffs at his clip is such that it will probably overcome his ugly contract. You don't figure a new Reinhart contract into your salary projection (if there is to be one).
- bblaine

I'm not sure it's going to be a huge factor...Maybe $3-3.5 million per on a bridge?

This is going to be a very different looking team when/if they deal ROR, Kane and Reinhart and see what goodies they get back in return.

If they deal ROR and Kane they, most likely, lose the better player in the deal. Reinhart? We hardly knew ya.

- GilPerreault11

Short term, yes. But in the short term the "better players" have us at last place so the short term hit is kind of meh at this point

I can't remember who it was here that mentioned but at one point Reinhart and his agent were looking for a big deal this summer?

I think he'll settle for a bridge deal as well

he's not had a great season and last year wasn't as good as his rookie year...that, to me, would equal a lower salary on a bridge deal

Not a knock on 89 or homie as im sure there information is good but I just dont see an ROR deal happening. maybe in the summer.

It's a huge contract and in the Venn diagram of teams that need a centre like ROR and teams that have the cap to make it work there are maybe one or two teams right now which makes negotiating for full value kind of tough.

Oh i get that, but what's the incentive to move him now vs the summer? If you wait a few months when teams have more flexibility to make moves you're probably going to get more back for him than what you'd get right now.

It's not like we're in any sort of race here.

No doubt, but my point is short term the effect on the team is basically nothing. With or without ROR those poopty players are still here for this year and with or without him it's still a last place team.

So yeah you may get a lesser player in the short term, but this is no longer a right now team.

Or,
Round Hole, Square Peg.

Up front; Moulson, Reinhart, Girgensons, Larsson, ROR, Pommer, and some others I have forgotten who just don’t fit the north/south speed system Housley has implemented.
On the backend, they don’t have a #1, their #2 is inconsistent, and there are air heads in Bogo and Blo-boy who just plain suck defensively.

Lots of work by JBotts to reconfigure this team.
Hopefully there are 3 or 4 forwards in the system who can be plugged in over the next two seasons like Mittlestadt, Nylander, Pu, Asplund and others (Bailey, Baptiste ?) that can play effectively in that system.

Draft well, get Solid D for the likes of the guys above on their way out.

Hmm. I see no issue absorbing 1.5 of ROR's Salary for the duration of his contract if we trade him.

Add that to Jack's "discount" and it's as if we're paying Jack 11.5 anyway.

ROR at 6 million is a lot more attractive and might turn us a 1st and a prospect, or add to get a d-man such a OEL. ROR + Reinhart hell, add Bogo, McCabe or Kane and bring in OEL. He's good, still young, under contract, will be cheaper than Karlsson or Doughty and we get a pretty legit 1st line pair in Risto/OEL.

- BeadyEyedDouche

how is Jack signed at a discount?

10 mil is anything but a discount based on his current production

and before we talk about potential

for every Scheifele that becomes a value deal, there are many that are not

and for 10 mil, he needs to be a 95 point player to begin to talk about a contract in line for what he is paid

Reinhart? If he isn't playing like a 2nd overall pick, he shouldn't be paid like a 2nd overall pick.

He should be signed for girgensons $.

30 point pace shouldn't net more than 2 years for 4 million. He has zero leverage. Restricted free agent.

Jack has been fine this year. Did you see the stat posted yesterday?

Of the 17 5 on 5 goals scored while Eichel has been on the ice, he’s scored or had the primary assist in 16 of them. That’s nuts.

He would benefit from some secondary assists

Why not get rid of the poopty players instead of the good ones?

I can’t believe I am asking that question.

The production that has him top 5 in primary points in the entire league? He's short a few secondary assists so he's not worth his deal? that's what this is? Top 3 in primary points on the worst team in the league while being the only one creating offence and we're talking about Eichel not playing up to value.

Because the poopty players won't bring back what this team needs. In fact most teams won't touch them.

most of our "good players" are punching above their weight too, that's a bigger issue
