It's on the chart... and not sure where you're getting 27 from?
- SimmerDown17

.33 is 1/3 of a point per game. 82/3 is 27 and some change. Hence 27 points for the season. I doubt there are many 4th liners scoring 27 points in a season.

Usage is what matters...Gagner was on PP1 for Columbus, but he was a "4th liner" some guys move up during the year, some guys play more than 8 minutes a game...it all depends

I agree with that. However, I think Gagner is the exception. Most 4th liners are PK guys. Either way you slice it a 4th liner scoring 27 points would seem to be a rarity.

I should clarify it was in response to a claim that Hak was incorrectly utilizing Raffl on the 4th line at the start of the season. Given his production last season I don't think it was incorrect. Raffl is a good player but struggles to finish and he was even given top minutes at stretches last year. He's defensively solid and can definitely play on the 3rd but not going to get much scoring from him (he's proving me wrong lately).

Raffl struggles to finish, but has as many ESG as Giroux since the start of 14/15 in 40 fewer games.

If he can maintain a .5 PPG over the long haul, he's keeping his current spot. Here's hoping.

The whole idea of comparing players based on sole production numbers is difficult, and quite frankly doesn't paint the whole picture.

As you say, depends so much on how you are deployed and with whom you are deployed that depends on your raw numbers.

I like comparing ES points as well as p/60. But, I think comparing role players in particular based solely on point production just isn't a good representation of that player.

I agree. I just wanted to point out that 27 points is a nice season for most players. The Flyers will probably only have 6-7 forwards that score more than that this season.

Lehtera, Weiss, Leier, Patrick, Weal are pretty much locks not to get 27 points this year. Konecny might. Raffl probably will now.

Once I saw Bellemare's name on the list, I knew he was gone. He's played well at the worlds and played well for Europe in the last World Cup when a throw together team made the finals. Of course Bellemare isn't what the Flyers have needed desperately for a while now and that's nine legit Top 9 forwards who can produce offense at a respectable level. Raffl is filling one hole for now and let's hope he keeps that going but his output, save for the 20+ goal year playing LW with two All Stars, has never been legit Top 9.

What does he have to do to be a "legit Top 9" player?

Cap projected to rise to 78-82 mil next season and with the NHL asking Seattle for a measly 650 mil for their franchise we will only see the cap continue to rise until the inevitable lock out. Moral of the story I think the cap strapped flyers history is one we wont have to worry about for awhile.

Plus GM's will want to really lock up their 28 and under core players up to long term deals before salaries inflate. Could end up with some nice bargains

Produce offense without being a liability without the puck. He's got the second part of that down, no one questions that. A half a point a game would lock him in. If he sags from that but the team continues to win, he's OK. The Flyers biggest issue the last few years is while they've had plenty of forwards who can play in the league, take a shift and not kill your chances, they haven't been able to score enough. Hopefully, this fix holds awhile. I'm happy to say I was wrong about Raffl's ability to deliver with this chance.

Like we seen with Vegas there are ways around losing a blue chipper and we seem to have a plethora of picks year after year to offer.
