I have always been a realist in my expectations of him. Aside from the contract, just considering his play on the ice.

When he is backing up defending almost to the crease it drives me crazy. Ideally he wouldn’t have to be used on a top PK unit.

But he is a plus skater, makes a pretty good first pass, and has always been a great shot blocker.

With Sanheim, Hagg, and Ghost all in the mix, I think Amac has been valuable veteran guy this season.

In my opinion, MacDonald backing up and giving up the blue line has always been overblown but that's just my opinion. He's been an underappreciated player who is a better player than given credit for.

I think Vegas took PEB primarily because of his leadership role. For a team that's been thrown together, you need guys on there that can help keep the room close. If nothing else, PEB is a class act and team-first guy. For proof, look no further than him declining player of the game honors at the World Championships to give it to his goalie.

Once I saw Bellemare's name on the list, I knew he was gone. He's played well at the worlds and played well for Europe in the last World Cup when a throw together team made the finals. Of course Bellemare isn't what the Flyers have needed desperately for a while now and that's nine legit Top 9 forwards who can produce offense at a respectable level. Raffl is filling one hole for now and let's hope he keeps that going but his output, save for the 20+ goal year playing LW with two All Stars, has never been legit Top 9.

LOL, not even close. Perhaps he could one day be that player for LHV.
- BiggE

You earlier had Lethera and Weiss as spares next year.
I hope they buy out Lethera and Weiss plays in LHV.

Probably has something to do with his actually playing better this season. Sure some folks would be on him no matter what, but not nearly as many if he had played this well from day one. It's great to see.

I think that is another thing that is overblown. How MacDonald is playing this season with the exception of short period of time is how he has always played. Again, just my opinion.

Cap projected to rise to 78-82 mil next season and with the NHL asking Seattle for a measly 650 mil for their franchise we will only see the cap continue to rise until the inevitable lock out. Moral of the story I think the cap strapped flyers history is one we wont have to worry about for awhile.

I think he has better gap control this year and has been better with the puck. Less of the hand grenade method he uses sometimes.

It seems to me he is thriving in a leadership role, which surprised me, I didn’t think he would be that guy.

I think he's played about the same, but has stepped up when needed.

My personal opinion is that the team has more skill and awareness which is resulting in playing much better team D. Plus his main partner is Provorov, which is going to help anyone's game.

Because of all of this, his faults are minimized as with every player.

Eastern conference comparison. Raffl is at .33 points per game. 4th line production.

That would be fine, however I think with cap going up, they just ride out Lehtera's last season and buy Weise out in 2019.
