The Canucks actually had more pressure 5 on 5 but they lack any finish, they play a better team game than Philly does.

Goldobin was invisible last night, suppose to be a skill guy, Boeser is a stealth type player that's not fast but he hits the holes nicely and his position is outstanding. The team really need to concentrate on drafting more centres until they have strength at that position.

Absolutely, and hopefully land one that can step in and play right away. Too much to ask for I know

I think he was trying to not be insensitive. How can he not trade for a fwd who can hit or fight when he has an entire roster who won't.

Teams lacks toughness. Everybody knew that from last season with Guds and DD out. Now it's happened again. I'm glad JB picked up Gadjovich. I hope he turns out to be a tougher top 9 forward for the team.

You are only asking Van to win the draft lottery. That's all. It's like trying to win the lottery 3 times in the same week. All max jackpots. That's all. Piece of cake.

You're going to hell.

Me as well. Hopefully JG is that net front presence that we have been lacking. He looks like he could be our holmstrom. That guy made a living whacking in greasy goals in front of the net.

Agreed.
Every time this gets brought up, others are quick to jump in to claim we have Gaudette and Petterson, both unproven.
Both of these guys could be wingers in nhl, if they make it to that level.

I also liked Schwartz, glad he's finally healthy and playing consistent games. Armstrong should probably get GM of the year for that trade alone if STL can get to the conference finals.
- manvanfan

A lot of people don't understand that trade from a Flyers perspective but they did it for a reason, Hextall has a plan to build through the draft and that was part of it. They are very good at plucking kids out of the later first round and had their eye on Morgan Frost who's playing really well in the Soo, they also have another first rounder next year from that deal to use.

Jay Greenberg wrote about it here, long read and I'm sure not a lot of you guys are interested but he's an excellent writer.

He sure did. JG looks like he's gotta decent hands. Doesn't need to be the fastest player as long as he isn't the slowest.

I had a 2 day binge in the flyers blog last week. Got a real good idea of what's happening. A lot don't like it. I honestly think there is a lot of hype around quite a few of the prospects in philly.

Provorov drafted after, Sanheim, Morin, and Hagg and he's clear ahead of them. Sanheim could be the next Pouloit

I hate that team toughness or scoring by committee. we don't know who is going to step up but we are hoping somebody does...

everyone is lined up side by side, everyone takes a step back except Gaunce... "you mean I have to score and fight?"

and to be honest, Gaunce has looked okay out there.

They (Flyers fans) don't like it because they're like Canuck fans in that they're totally impatient. Flyers needed to restock through the draft and IMO that's what Hextall is doing.

I wish Benning was more like Hextall in that Hextall try's to maximize his number of picks all the time. He's actively moving picks to acquire more picks and then using them when they want a player.

They only reason the Canucks had an extra second last year was because of John Tortorella, not Benning.

Why Benning doesn't? Frustrating.

Something i wanted benning to do all along. His drafting in 2017 makes me want him to do it even more

He's actively trading NHL players for a possiblity. Probably explains why they have been mediocre and haven't been able to get over the hump.

Probably hard pressed to name a canuck forward not named dorsett who would throw a hit like this right now

I think he hopes every transaction for a pick will turn out like baertschi, and every prospect he deals ends up like shink. I admire bennings activeness, just want him to keep drafting players like in 2017. More picks makes benning look better imo

He traded the 4th rounder they got in the Hansen deal for a 5th and 6th rounder that enabled them to draft Gunnarsson and Palmu, I'd like to see more of that.
