Subban is a fringe AHL defenseman who cant play defense and who has been a healthy scratch every ahl season he has played. But... feelings

May have gotten more for Subban when his stock was higher end of last season.

Anyway, Dowd was the press box guy for Kings who have stronger C group. As stop gap he's better option then Chapoop... probably better then Burmi at center too.

This trade means nothing to the canucks.

Sure he'll play center here so that an ahl center can play in Utica, but this trade does not change a thing for the canucks future or present.

Subban was never going to amount for a substantial nhl regular and neither is dowd.

6 week filler is all and the price was an undersized AHLr.

I'm sure someone is gonna demand Bennings head over this because Subban never got a shot but... WGAF?

Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the Canucks have acquired forward Nic Dowd from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for defenceman Jordan Subban.

Dowd, 27, has appeared in 16 games (0-1-1) with the Kings this season where he ranks fourth on the team in faceoff win percentage (51.92%; min. 50 faceoffs). In his first full NHL season in 2016.17, the 6-2, 197-pound forward ranked 10th on the team in scoring with 22 points (6-16-22). Over parts of three AHL seasons, Dowd has recorded 92 points (23-69-92) in 140 games. He has also collected 25 points (12-13-25) in 36 AHL playoff games and in 2015 he registered 13 points (7-6-13) in 19 playoff games, helping the Manchester Monarchs win the Calder Cup championship.

Pretty meh trade, but i have no issues with it. Dowd is a better depth player than Chaput and quite possibly Burmistrov. Subban is still up and down at the AHL level, he's not progressing and is only losing value with each passing season at this point.
