I don't know how they're doing it with that line-up but I can't believe they're ahead of the Flyers in points? Theyve got two guys worth mentioning, Horvat and Boeser, the definition of a one line team with terrible defense.

Add Jersey and Vegas to that list too. Would be nice for our team to overachieve like that.

Hextall is doing a soft rebuild though the draft but still trying to compete, in a few years, two or three, this team is gonna be in a good place.

Just so we're clear: you think that Timonen only had 5 or fewer career PP goals as a Flyer?

And yes, Kimmo is a much smarter defender, very similar to Desjardins. Ghost is a risk taker, which he has to be in order to be effective. Timonen was a much calmer, steady player.

- jmatchett383

I used the word probably. Maybe less, maybe more (which wasn't acknowledged). Timonen's point totals dropped off here after leaving Nashville and scored even less goals.

I don't take much stock in "Well he was an All-Star". Shayne Gostisbehere has a chance to become an All-Star this season himself. Ivan Provorov ended last season with 30 points. Provorov already has 14 points, just one point under half. I do view Provorov as a calm presence down the road. I also feel like if a player doesn't put in a full effort, you take certain privileges away.

It definitely isn't all it is going to cause is frustration and lack of confidence. If you never get to play you most likely have the thoughts you are doing something wrong. If these kids are playing afraid to make mistakes usually that's what exactly happens they will make mistakes. Confidence is key in hockey I can't see how TK or Patrick have any whatsoever the way they are being handled.
- FreshFlyer

They are adults not fragile children. If you cant handle the fact that you got benched for playing like poop, you dont deserve to be in the NHL. I dont think anyones boss is going to sit there and coddle you if you make mistakes that hindering the companies overall performance. People get fired for less.

Nutter's crazy thoughts.

I dont give a rats ass if not playing the kids at times is historically the norm. Doesn't make it right.

Behind the times thinking, which is not uncommon with the club.

/end rant

- flyer_nutter

Playing a 19/20 year old as your top defenseman and getting more ice time than any other player by far, last year he played 500 minutes more than any other player on the team, is definitely behind the times thinking.

He's doing one hell of a job at the compete part.

Who is this Trevor Booker character? This a good trade?

EDIT: Seems like it's a good trade considering they sent someone who isn't worth jack poop on this team for a guy who seems like is gonna be a nice 6th man?

He's a mirage.

Dude who will get some blow as a role player and most likely walk in FA during offseason. Saves cap space.

Hinkie was going to deal him to Boston for a top 3 pick, but ownership and Jerry Colangelo nixed the deal due to the bad PR it would generate

I just read he was on the last year of a deal.

I dunno. On one hand they didn't really get anything and gave up a 2nd rounder and two reserve players. On the other hand, they got something for 2 reserve players.

I don't really like it. Booker is an ok player, but he's not really needed. I hate giving up a pick for a player like him.

It really is amazing how many 2nd rounders Colangelo is squandering when the team needs to find some cheap wings

Those are the rumors. Hinkie resigned not too long after that happened.

I was hoping he'd be a shooter off the bench. Doesn't seem like he is. And is 30. And is going to walk.

Meh. Souring quickly. But again- Okafor was going to walk too *shrug*

He's an undersized 5. He can play some 4, but his lack of shooting makes him difficult to pair with guys like Simmons

The pick became Jaylen Brown. I'm guessing Hinkie would have taken Jamal Murray
