I think it is the storyline
And it just goes to show how Fd up things are

Ppl are choosing “politics” over common sense... AGAIN

You’re preaching to the choir here...but I’m older now and the torch doesn’t burn with as much gusto as it once did.
It is very obvious that in politics, people vote on a it doesn’t affect me so I don’t care approach.
And it is Alabama after all.

Back to hockey, this is from Spector's page:

THE NEWS & OBSERVER: The Carolina Hurricanes opened this season hoping to get offense from their defensemen. However, only three blueliners – Noah Hanifin, Justin Faulk and Jaccob Slavin – have goals this season.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: If this trend continues, Hurricanes general manager Ron Francis could be pressured into parting with one of his notable blueliners for a scoring forward.

Maybe now is the time to go for one of Carolina's Dmen.

“It doesn’t affect me, so I don’t care”
Is just as wrong as...

“My side is correct, it’s the other side’s fault”

It’s denying obvious logic to perpetuate your own belief structure

BTW, that was in response to the remark about the older generation giving participation awards.

My response was to seperate my self from that broad brush stroke.
I ran a 110 team soccer club in Rochester for 5 years .... one of things I was proud of was to get rid of the “tradition” of giving out Participation Trophies after the U8 level.
Time for the kiddies get some competitive blood flowing through them veins rather than expecting an award for showing up.

That was a huge accomplishment and had several spirited discussions with Board Members and parents along the way ... in the end, the Board agreed and it was viewed positive after a couple of years.

I do consider myself to lean right for sure but a centrist. The arguments came from more left leaders...saw it for myself, lived it.

Maybe.
Who would they want from this roster outside of Kane though?

Faulk has been rumored to potentially be available for a while now

BUT
What’s the cost?
And is the the right guy to target?
I’ve been hearing ppl say he hasn’t been playing very well

Also, with Vancouver losing Dorsett to retirement due to injury and now Horvat going down for a predicted 6 weeks with a leg injury, maybe they would be interested sooner rather than later in making a trade for someone like Kane or possibly Reinhart. Would Juolevi or Subban be available?

See post above, I don’t draw a hard line in the sand, as mentioned...from my own experience the left leaning and Participation Award are linked in my mind.

For you to draw conclusions about “my side” is presumptuous.
But I get it.

And yet you,
self described “leaning right” agreed with it

So how does that place the blame on the left leaning liberals?
If I push for u to shoot someone & u pull the trigger...
neither of us are innocent

Arguing over who is more at fault is the problem
Politics should be about solutions to help ppl

But that’s NOT what we have today
Even in the situation YOU described...
You’re compliant in the giving out the trophies...
Yet the narrative u portray is that it’s the “liberals” fault

See what I’m getting at?

I find the whole trade rumors around Reinhart to be interesting, especially this year.
He is producing at a very low rate, has shown to struggle as a center and when not a lline with Jack.
So I just assume his value to other teams is really low, therefore not expecting much in return.
If I was Botts I would hold off on a trade until the deadline or the offseason and have Housley play him with Jack for the rest of the season to build his value as much as possible.

I’m not trying to specifically single u out
Sorry if u feel like I’m attacking you,
That’s not my intention

Just using this as an example of overall behavior from BOTH sides which leads to all the BS instead of productively moving forward

Also...
is ANYONE playing “well” when not on a line with Jack?
Not really

Of course, we can’t completely alleviate Sam from blame...
but maybe a big part of his (and others) non-production is relative to how big of a disaster this whole team is right now

Nope.
I see where someone who is uninformed, judgmental would find me complicit in giving ways those trophies, because they didn’t understand the inner-workings necessary to affect change within an organization...but such is life.

Further, you seem to believe that I agree with those voting for Moore. If that is the case, you made a judgement without the facts. Because I lean right, doesn’t mean I am blind and pull the lever in one row. In fact you might think me a schizo if you saw my voting history. Think of me more centralist.

Well said.
I agree with you that is the way it should be.

I wouldn’t vote for him, hence why I said originally about it being the storyline

In NO WAY WHATSOEVER do I think u are supporting that child molester

What on earth did I write that made it seem so?

Saying it’s the “liberals fault” doesn’t mean I automatically think that YOU are necessarily one of the idiots that always votes “politics over logic”

Just that using rhetoric like that contributes to the overall state we are in that leads to ppl just voting for their side no matter what

Even if u do vote all over the board,
my point was that a specific type of just blaming this side or that side helps contribute to the problems we are currently having

So, what is your take on the scoring woes...and without looking it up to confirm exactly ... but seems we have drafted a bunch of centers and have tried to convert them to wings. Maybe we have too many “creative types” rather than guys who simp,y bury the puck.

I see what you’re saying.
I don’t think there is a simple answer, solution whatever.
There are multiple causes, including the parties themselves, and the media is huge in it resulting is a severely divided country.
I have said for years that neither party represents 80% of the country...only the extreme edges.
The real story to me is why no third party has galvanized the middle who is dying for proper representation.

I’m gonna take this over to the new thread

Obviously you’re a reasonable person
I appreciate being able to discuss political differences in a civil manner

I think it’s bc the 2 parties are making too much $$$ to allow anything but the status quo
They’ll never allow a 3rd party

And to your point, neither party actually votes to the extreme...
they just use extreme rhetoric to galvanize their side
All it really does is keep “us” arguing while they (both sides) get richer

They’re very good at using the media to distract the ppl from realizing we could demand meaningful change if we’d just stop fighting about BS
