I'm so glad we see eye to eye on this Ron.

In fairness, his play hasn't really been a problem in the grand scheme of things. He's leading our team in 5-on-5 offensive results and is generally providing positive minutes for 17-18 minutes a game. Not worth the contract, of course, but I think the amount of people piling on him is getting crazy- even before his huge gaffe against the Leafs.

I refuse to love Russell. Mostly because of his contract (which I can't actually blame him for), partially because of his play, but also because his mug aggravates me in a way that I cannot totally explain.

51.16% in unblocked shot attempt percentage this year (as per NHL.com) and while that's relatively low compared to the team average (super high), I'd be hard-pressed to call it getting "caved".

And again, he's leading the team in 5-on-5 offense. This means he's taking advantage of the decrease in responsibilities and producing in a way that we've needed him to. Despite all your complaints on how he gets it done, his goal share is still 50-50 at evens.

I'm not gonna change your dislike of the player, but there are FAR bigger problems that deserve our attention and negative press. Namely Klefbom's 37% goal share at even strength

I don't disagree with some of what Max says. Russell isn't the reason the oil stink like a dead skunks ass this year. But I also agree with HB that if he didn't have that awful contract he wouldn't get chirped.
