Hey Everyone. First post but long time follower of the board. I look forward to contributing to discussions about our beloved Blackhawks.

The thing that amazes me about this team is year after year how poorly the power play performs. The scheme is worn out. No matter the assistant that gets brought in to run the PP unit, the scheme remains the same. Is this team the juggernaut that it once was? Absolutely not.

But with the offensive talent up front there is no reason that the power play should be completely inept. Entries are a problem and when they finally establish possession in the O zone it’s perimeter garbage with little if any net presence.

Get some of the bigger bodies on the PP that will win puck battles, go to the net, set screens and pay the price to score goals. At the very least, the power play should not cause a momentum shift in the wrong direction.

Hopefully these next 3 games help the Hawks get back in the win column, give them a little momentum to build upon and get them back in a wildcard spot. Look forward to being involved in future discussion. Go Hawks!

Thanks for the welcome. Anyone hear whether Corey will be back for tomorrow night? Sad to think that we need him in net to beat the Sabres but those are two points that we cannot let slip away.

People are entitled to their opinions. But I think people should try to be as rational as possible and steer the conversation towards something constructive rather than the standard "Q sucks" or "Stan shouldn't have traded Leddy" narrative. Sports are suppose to be fun.

Bravo! But I am afraid that these thoughts are too rational for the irrational audience it is aimed at. But I give you full credit for suggesting this.

The only irrational people here are those who are in a deep state of denial regarding how good this team is and what they can accomplish this season.

Agree. Selling tickets (expensive tickets) to a game where the players are dragging their asses. Cutting games by say 15% would go a long way to making sure the product on the ice is of the highest quality. I'd guess most of the players would take 15% less if that were the case as well.
- 6628

No they wouldn’t. And the owners would never agree to it. Do you think Rocky would be agreeable to selling his $10.00 beets and hot dogs for $8.50?

I totally agree with you that the season is too long but I don’t see players or owners agreeing to put less in their pockets.

I know, you're right. But at some point these guys aren't machines. They have to be mentally exhausted as well. Not all their fault they aren't putting on their best show.
- 6628

Totally agree that these guys aren’t machines. I have more respect for what they put themselves through than the athletes of any other sport.

But let’s look at it from another perspective: say you shell out $300 to $400 for you and a guest to go see a concert. You sit through a performance where the singers’ voices are strained and they can hit all the notes, the instruments are all in tune and the musicians are having trouble keeping the beat.

My guess is you would be upset with the performance.....I know I would be. Most of the Hawks’ games this year have fallen into the bad band scenario for me.

Agreed. I think no when we talk sports we too often associate with what we want the team to be and don’t see what it really is. But that’s also one of the beauties of sports on that we can lose ourselves in the game or the team for a little while and get really high when they win and incredibly down when they lose.

Watching the Panthers/Jets game hoping to see what other teams are doing on the power play. Lots of quick puck movement, quick shots and (wait for it) 1-2 guys sitting in front of the crease.

One other glaring note... you can literally count the number of people in the stands.

Hawks pp is laughable and has been since Q has been here. With all that talent should be top10 every year plus take kieth of the pp couldn't hit right side of a barn. Put seabrook back on it. Dineen should be fired just for how bad the pp is working but need players willing to pay the price.

Here are a couple silly arm chair gm trades my friends and I came up with when watching the game last night nothing better to do because hawks were getting their ass handed to them again by Washington.

luci letestu for seabrook and kero and 5th in 2019

kieth to Toronto for conner carrick and zac hyman and 2nd 2018

panik Hartman and smaltz to phily for simmions and morin

These are just fantasy trades just throwing something at the wall and see if it sticks.

Hawks are so bad offensively and pp its laughable just like last night's game.

- Scott1977

I would do two of the three I would keep Keith. I've really soured on Hartman he's just a spineless agitator. Roussel has more courage and stands up for his play then Hartman. His knee on ovi and lack of response from him and the caps was garbage. I don't know how bowman has a job with the contracts he's handed out. it's asinine

Keith - not great anymore and playing like a 4D

Toews- not great anymore and playing like a 3C

Seabrook - bad and playing like a 6D

Kane- still a PPG player and one of the top 3 most dangerous players in the world with the puck on his blade

Saad - not nearly good enough finishing his chances

Hawks are royally (frank)ed and it's 100% on Bowman. Too much $$ tied up in players who are a shell of their former selves. This season has been ugly so far, and the "Leadership" on this team has checked out. They look like bunch of mercenaries that are showing up to collect a paycheck and nothing more. This is tough to watch and I don't see it getting better anytime soon. Oh well, good thing Stan Bowman is here to guide the way.....
