He's regressed so much in my opinion.

Maybe ,thought he looked to have some jump last night .Think he has been missed used .Needs to be with the right players so he can play his game . Just MO .

Yea, Wellington will be cool. Looking forward to him.

I think Kopech will be a late season call up, but I'm really looking forward to it. Was hoping to see him this season, but it didn't happen.

Yea his control wasn't quite there and the Sox didn't want to rush him even though it would have been a "marketing" ploy. Play it smart, they have the best farm in the majors with a bounty of brilliant young arms, take it slowly and then strike in 2019 and setup for a run in the 3 - 5 years after.

If nothing else I want a couple of these kids to make the team. I enjoyed watching Anderson, Moncado, Avi and Jose last year...and until his arm gave him trouble it was fun watching Rodon. He was really coming on...and boy that slider ("prompting some comparisons to Steve Carlton."). It's positively nasty, but he needs to put another pitch with it to really become a stud...OH YEA and stay healty.

I agree with you to an extant.

I thought last year he looked good playing with whoever. He had that grit/edge that he combined with the ability generate offense and score. Feels like that's all missing this year. But maybe you're right about needing a different line combo for him to get going.

That knee extension at center ice on Ovi was not good. Haha.

Like those lines , but think we need a change behind the bench 1st . The HAWKS hire 2 new coaches after firing 1 I believe this off season . Been banging the drum for two years since the 7 game loss to ST.L to get rid of Q .It's tough call for all he has been involved in with this team ,but I do think it needs to be done ..

At the least, Dineen needs to be relieved of his PP responsibilities. The PP is just pure garbage. He could literally look at any other teams PP and copy them to get better results.

Totally agree, man.

I still think that trade with the Nats that sent Eaton (good riddance) for three of their pitchers--two of which were being groomed to be cornerstones for them--was absolutely awesome.

It's just a joke .I but it there instead of GO HAWKS this year . But I do believe he should be here and playing with Hartman and Schmaltz .That line was great last year ,and the team was playing some of their best hockey at the time .
- oldduffman

Ahhh, I just got sick of reading it. I don't disagree. Schmaltz went down and worked his way back. At some point Vinny should be back here. Some have said there is no room. But if you remember 2010 Eager wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer but his speed disrupted the opposing defense. Anybody can dump, but it takes speed to chase. That becomes necessary when the opposition clogs the neutral zone. Not holding my breath, but a creative coach would embrace the kids exceptional speed and figure a way to utilize it. And the kid seems to be making a proper effort in Rockford. So WTF, free Vinny dammit.

Vinny's speed is so key. It puts guys on their heels.

The NHL is going to speed/quickness and finesse. Bring this man back. Haha.

Him and Schamltz on the same line is something other defenses would have to respect. Throw Saad in for maximum speed.

I could agree with you if I was sure Dineen was responsible for the scheme and personel. Not so sure that's the case.

If, IF the Hawks want to move Toews you better believe they will trade him to ANYBODY willing to take him. Yes I am sure they would explore the EC first then the Pacific division but if WPG comes in with the sweetest deal, or hell even the ONLY deal, you do the move.
- tyweb69

This. If the opportunity arose for an almost fair deal I don't think the front office could be picky if it was in or out of the division. Toews could take on a Kruger-type role of 3rd line center, 10-12 minutes a night. face-off and penalty kill specialist.

No comments/forum section is really the downfall over there.

Honestly I don't need any more doom and gloom. I get that we're all frustrated with the Hawks play as of late, but I don't need anyone blowing it out of proportion.

If we are in the basement before the deadline, I wouldn't mind moving Kane+ for Tavares if he'd agree to extend here. That kick starts your rebuild on the fly right there. Tavares is 1C, Toews 2C, and we have a glut of wingers waiting to play.

2018 lineup:

Saad-Tavares-Cat
Schmaltz-Toews-Sikura
Hayden-AA-Vinny
Kero-Wingels-Panik (or whatever)

Funny when you watch other teams who have success on the PP with lesser-name dudes than the Hawks and you realize all they do is keep it super simple.

Enter the zone, set up, couple passes, get someone in front, put it on, repeat.

Everyone has mentioned trading one of the core players. The problem with that is the FO handed out no trade clauses as if they were oprah...you get a no trade clause and you get a no trade clause.. everyone gets a new trade clause!!

A re-incarnation of the old "Scooter" line. Not that Schmaltz is or could be the great Stan Mikita, but it mite be fun. Oh wait, Q would change it up after what, 20 minutes???

Is Q going to keep these new lines for the foreseeable future, or is he going to fire up the blender at full speed again? I'm surprised he didn't merely try Debrincat at 1RW instead of juggling all the forwards like that.

I honestly did forget that when i said I'd be open to trading Kane if we were in the basement. Think he'd waive to go back to New York and play with Leddy?

Yes. We are wasting our time talking about trading these overpriced and/or NTC guys. It is looking like Panik is falling into that category now too.

Trading entry level guys is also a waste of time because you would need to trade 6 of those low contracts to fit an impact player's contract. Also not a good policy when you are in a downward trend.

And also, Hossa's LTIR (whatever is left) is a static number unlike real cap space which pro-rates. So help is not coming here.

So don't expect any kind of savior to salvage this season. The trades we see will be
UFA dumps at the trade deadline.
