I couldn't disagree more with this; at least re the Flames game.
The Flames second goal was 100 percent on Dale Weise. Any decent player collects that cross-ice pass from Patrick that Weise wasn't ready for (what else is new?) and didn't react to quickly enough (what else is new?) or with enough aggression (what else is new?).
Then, after leisurely coasting back (what else is new?) behind the Flames' 2-on-1, Weise is in perfect position to zip over to pick up the rebound along the wall, but instead of taking 3 or 4 aggressive strides, he coasts (what else is new?) and gets beaten by a step to the puck (what else is new?), and then, instead of jamming that player, he steps aside weakly like a matador (what else is new?) and allows a shot that led to a rebound that led to a Flames goal.
Also, Monahan scored from the spot where Weise should have been but wasn't (what else is new?) and you can see Patrick notice this and try to cover for him (what else is new?) at the last second, but he got there too late.
But Hakstol as usual sees the situation in favor of the unskilled veteran (what else is new?) and incorrectly blames and penalizes the young skilled player (what else is new?) by benching Patrick in the 3rd period when, to me, it's not even debatable that it was Weise's fault (what else is new?). - MountainHockey

that was Patrick's spot to be in...everything else is legit though
Will be at the game tonight in Edmonton, hopefully see a win as Edmonton has not been kind to Philly in the past few years. I always leave in my Flyer Jersey getting laughed at! Hopefully Lucic takes a dumb penalty and Philly scores on the powerplay to win it! - Daceroni
Have fun! May the Flyers remain undefeated in Alberta this season and you get your Christmas wish.
Yo, jak! Not much is up. Just plugging away at life.
Spaghetti was stolen by a horse thief. Goes by the name of Tangent_Man. Unfortunately, he got way with it as all they found at his abode when they caught up to him was a vat of glue.
Other than getting that he is not happy with Weise, I didn't really give much thought to it. - MJL
I get that it was a bit over the top.. but he wasnt wrong either.
The play broke down with Weise not having his stick ready... followed up with a lazy (tired) back check, has a chance to win the puck along the boards in a 50/50 battle and he doesnt even make it there bec he is just coasting. He continues coasting around the zone and slowly makes his way back to the top of the left circle as Monahan scores.
That was a brutal shift, and pretty much what we see a lot when it comes to Weise. I dont know if he is hurt or whats going on, but he has been horrible this year. To the eye and within the metrics.

Last night was maybe his worst game yet. His turnover led to the Flames' second goal, and his results by Corsi and xG were easily team lows. It was an ugly game for the 19-year-old.

Gotta say I disagree. It was a bad pass behind Weiss by quite a bit. As much as I bust on Weise, I can't blame him for that.
