From everything bill and others have reported is they want him to be on the scoresheet more consistently and have him playing a top line role. I think he should be brought a long at the nhl level like coots was. But I also understand with the state of the team it's in no youths best interest to be in the nhl. - Tfaehner
The expect him to be a top 9 player who can provide some offense. What is the basis for thinking he should be brought along at the NHL level?

So in your thinking Patrick would be better served at the junior level instead of the NHL because he would get more ice time and develop better there?

If hasktol is going to continue to take away his 5 on 5 and pp time? Yes. If he's going to get a fair chance to develop? No. |

You do know there is more to development the just the on ice stuff too?
These are young kids. i know athletes are getting better information and training than ever these days but there is stuff they can learn being around the NHL team compared to juniors.

Yup I've played and coached. Playing for Canada at the world juniors would be better than 7 minutes a night and being a part of a train wreck at the nhl level. What is he learning ? Now in the same token okay so Patrick should develop at the nhl BUT Martel vecchione lindblom should not ? K. |

Idk sometimes I wonder if they expect too much from lindblom. They want him to become some consistent prolific scorer and are keeping him down until he shows that. We wanted that from coots but we let him develop at the nhl. I think they should realize his goals will come with time and he's better served in the Nhl. But with the current state of the team honestly I would rather send guys down than call them up. I don't think the flyers are a good place for developing youths at the moment. - Tfaehner
I'd be happy right now with Lindblom just playing his defensively responsible game on the 3rd or 4th line. He's already a better player than Weise or Lehtera.

Then he won't be in the AHL long if he shows that. But they also want to see consistency from game to game. He has 4 goals and 9 assists. It's not like he is lightening it up down there where he is not challenged.
Listen. I love the youth and would love to see Lindblom in the NHL. Just because i am selfish and want to see the talked about prospects. but let's be real. The quick fix, rush thing ways the Flyers did in the past are not happening under this new regime. It's a calculated approach and a patient approach. Will it work. i don't know. But everyone wanted the Flyers to do something different and now they are. When Hextall took over he was very forthcoming in that it will take time.

I agree but even though he's defensively responsible and doesn't take offensive chances he's a youth so he would play 7 a night cause we suck and that's what we have to do on sucky teams |

What I find funny is hextall told everyone hasktol is in no fear of losing his job. Yet he's coaching like a guy about to lose his job. Benching the rookies to protect a lead makes zero sense for a rebuilding team worried about development. It only means something to a contending team fighting for wins. This delusional fantasy that were a playoff team is not healthy and I still want hasktol fired and am souring mightily on hextall as this thing plays out. He acts like he's the smartest gm that ever lived and can't be criticized because he always knows best. Hubris is usually a fatal flaw in heroes. - Tfaehner
Whether or not they are a playoff team is irrelevant. The job of the coach is to win games. No coach is going to have the attitude "ah, frank it, we're not going to make the playoffs so let's just see what happens." |

So who is cherry picking names now?
Patrick is not the same player as any of the ones you listed.
In the game Vecchionne got in last year he looked overmatched. This is his first year pro. Martel got some games but while he looked good, he is a smallish player and everyone has already complained we are too small. Lindblom was given every chance to win a job in the preseason and he didn't impress enough.
I am glad you coached and played. So did i. I also worked in a AHL front office for 4 years. And I am not even sure what the actual correct way is to develop a 19, 20, 21 year old kid because they are all different.

I get it.
The only one I'm not all that upset about is Patrick. Imho, he does nothing with the minutes he gets as it is. |

I think this is my biggest gripe with fans this year. We were told a slow long build. Three years isn't a slow long build. This fan base is Ed Gruberman....They need a boot to the head. |

leave him in the AHL. no need to rush.
I would call up Colin McDonald and play him over those 2 guys though. He will provide much more. |

And at least all that time Couturier was good defensively. I've not seen anything impressive from Patrick yet. |

There is a lot more to playing well than scoring goals, and it is painfully obvious how good Lindblom is at that stuff when you watch him. It isn't about just doing something different. It is about playing the best players. Good players can actually help a team play good hockey! |
