How can you say step one is missing. And with TK step 1 and 2 have happened which leads to step 3 which is him sitting on the pine. It was pointed out about the passes up the boards that go to the other team. TK keeps making them he's going to keep seeing time on the pine. The idea that he singles out kids for mistakes is right but it's because you hope to stop the behavior before it become normal. - dragonoffrost
why couldn't a player with 8 years experience also learn that turnovers are bad? |

Realistically, I'd rather see any of Vecchione, Lindblom or Martel in for either one of the 2 stiffs, but I'm not holding my breath. - BiggE
Idk sometimes I wonder if they expect too much from lindblom. They want him to become some consistent prolific scorer and are keeping him down until he shows that. We wanted that from coots but we let him develop at the nhl. I think they should realize his goals will come with time and he's better served in the Nhl. But with the current state of the team honestly I would rather send guys down than call them up. I don't think the flyers are a good place for developing youths at the moment. |

I wouldn't mind Lindblom but right now they have to carry 8 D thanks to Badko. |

Compare any sport. The best way to develop a kid is to coach him and than give him a chance to execute what you coached and than give him feedback after. We seem to be missing steps 1 and 2. - Tfaehner
Nah, none of that has happened this season. Not at all. Look at the history of hockey. |

I named two from Buffalo so yes they are.
And I said it wasn't perfect. Yes some of these teams have better supporting casts. - J35Bacher
It was just a random list of names...at least use 5v5 time

I want to see us compete don't get me wrong. But we had a 3 goal lead. Its not like it was 1 goal in a tight game. They should of been given the opportunity to play some. If it went poorly you shorten the bench. We also shortened it way too early. It's scared coaching. It's no good for winning games and it's no good for player development. - Tfaehner
I don't disagree, just pointing out (the unsaid) part of the coach's motivation. |

He can't trade away the whole team regardless of what he says. And I think if we remain a bottom 5 team he has no choice but to fire hasktol. I don't care if that's now or at the end of the season though as I don't think any of the mid season coaching choices are all that great. We did not play this great game last night. - Tfaehner
I have to admit I only caught snatches of the game last night but I felt like we still looked like a hot mess. Elliott played well, the refs loved us (bizarro world), and we had a couple lucky bounces. I'm glad we won. Really, really glad we won, but they have a LOT of work to do to get back to playing well... |

Curtis Lazar?!?! - YuenglingJagr
Lol cherry picked names imo. And even than you see most of their guys have more minutes. Reinhart is my most comparable to Patrick and he's averaging 4 more a night |

It's more of the who is easier to break a habit from. Someone who's doing it for a shorter time than someone who it's become ingrained behavior. |

The Patrick line wasn't that great last night.
Here are some ATOI for this season I was able to find:
Travis Konecny - 14.07
Robert Hagg - 19.23
Jordan Weal - 12.56
Nolan Patrick - 12.31
Other names:
Nico Heischier - 16.14
Pavel Zacha - 13.40
Patrick Laine - 16.22
Mark Jankowski - 12.37
Curtis Lazar - 10.22
Zemgus Girgenson - 11.47
Sam Reinhart - 16.14
Now it's not perfect because of PP and SH situations. but can you honestly say that our young players are playing so much less then others. - J35Bacher
No data to back it up, but it seems from watching that those minutes for the Flyers rookies/young guns have been gradually reduced as the season has gone on. |

He's learned all that he can. So instead of putting a player out there who may learn that, the wisest course of action is to repeatedly put the player out there who will not learn that they are bad.

And Reinhart has 3 years compared to Patrick.
I wasn't cherry picking names. The point is the ice time for our younger players is not remotely as off as some like to say it is compared to other young players.

I read that he'll need surgery, so not sure if his season is over.
Just glad to hear that this won't stop him from leading a normal life. I was almost positive his career was over. Probably up there with the David Booth and Petr Svoboda hits as the scariest injury I've ever seen. - jmatchett383

And in a ten game losing streak that will happen as a coach will lean on his vets. |

It's sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows this morning, as the breaks this team hadn't been getting for weeks finally went their way.
I'm reserving judgement until after Thursday. Dropping both Wednesday and Thursday games would pretty much put this team on the lottery track. |

From everything bill and others have reported is they want him to be on the scoresheet more consistently and have him playing a top line role. I think he should be brought a long at the nhl level like coots was. But I also understand with the state of the team it's in no youths best interest to be in the nhl. |
