Ryan Shazier from the Steelers carted off field not moving legs after tackling player with his head down. Scary. - bird_dog_pa
Wow, thoughts and prayers.

Hextall talked about how even with all the frustration the players were sticking together and weren't turning on each other. Hextall has decided along with the players to circle the wagons and to try and get out of it together as a team. To call out the coach and give the players permission to blame the coach would've been the wrong approach. There would've been zero benefit to not defending the coach. If he was going to do that he might as well fire him. - MJL
This goes beyond defending the coach, and if they extend this winless streak to 13 games and he doesn't fire the coach, he will have disgraced the franchise by accepting pathetically low standards of performance rather than have the guts to admit he made a goddamn mistake with his first coaching hire. |

Same for me. I've been on board with nearly everything Hextall has done.
This, if taken at face value, is however deeply concerning. Like I said prior, 28 wins in their last 76 games. No one should be safe. - hereticpride
Hextall is driving this team's profitability in the dirt. You have to placate fans especially the ones around here. Being a repeated stubborn jerk about fans concerns is not the answer. If this losing continues and hextall does nothing make no mistake about it they'll run him out of town. Hextall has a responsibility to put a team out there that sells tickets. |

I don't think it does. He's doing what he thinks is best. I think that really mis-characterizes Hextall to suggest that he won't have the guts to fire Hakstol if he think s that needs to be done. Another couple meek loses and I think Hextall will prove that he does.

Do you think fans concerns should come into the decision making process of a GM?

But see, I see Hextall make this statement that Hak is the coach of now and the future and then think "well somebody has got to be at fault for all this losing." It can't be the coach if he's worth that kind of bold statement in the midst of a major losing streak so it must be the players.
I think Hextall is really just trying to cheerlead this team out of it more than anything but I don't think his words have been chosen wisely as of late. |

Yes. If you lose the fans you lose your job. Point blank period. The arrogance he just displayed makes me hope we continue to tank and they're both fired. |

Same thing as circle the wagons. Hextall's words may not have been chosen wisely to appease the fanbase but they were the right words for the team right now and that is Hextall's main concern in my opinion. |

There comes a time when fan concerns and team management concerns do intersect. I think we're about there regardless of what Hextall is saying. He, and the team, have to believe the streak ends tonight. I hope that happens and Hakstol can hold on. I don't want to see a coach carousel here. Unfortunately, DeBoer isn't available. If I was going to make that move, I'd want a certain upgrade behind the bench. |

Maybe that's not what the players want to hear. Maybe they don't like hasktol. Maybe he's furthering the divide and making things worse.
By the way anyone not watching this Sixers comeback is messing up. Flyers can wait |

I don't see any arrogance involved. Nothing brings the fans quicker than winning and that is what Hextall is trying to do. The fans are understandably frustrated and there is a lot of emotion flowing. The last thing he should do is consider the fans in his decision making process. That's for the business office to worry about right now.

We've won at a .337 clip under hasktol for a year now. A mediocre few wins do not save him |
