As for that 3 way trade not too long ago, I finally summarized something up.

It would have been centered around Rask, Edmonton
1st to Detroit, RNH, Kronwall, and Detroit 1st to Carolina, Faulk and (Tatar OR Nyquist) to Edmonton.

Each team addresses a need (EDM=defense and RW top 6 depth; Detroit=cap space, 2C center; Carolina=solid 1Cb, solid draft pick for deepening forward prospect options).

The helm/Russell swap could also be done on the side. A deal I thought was pretty damn good for both sides.

But with how RNH is playing........ Idk.

As much as I would love to have Dahlin (He seems to have a similar playing style to that of OEL.... (of course this is solely based on looking at his highlights )), once Sekera comes back and our key players come back from what looks like just some short-term injuries (hopefully), this team is probably STILL going to miss the playoffs, but end up around 17-23rd place. We don't have a bad team. It definitely has been weakened due to the prior offseason, but it is still capable.

If I were Chia's ameteur scouts, I'd be looking at trying to land Farabee from the NHL 2018 draft. An excellent LW that would definitely help bolster the talent on the Left side that has been vacated ever since the Hall trade. Even if we traded down, I would like to see Chia try to draft him (unless we trade our pick for an NHL player...). The kid looks like he may be a beast.

Benson looks like be might crack the lineup by next year with how well he has been playing, HOWEVER, I would rather see him spend one solid year in the AHL before that happens.

Either this happens or......... Chia purposely sells players for prospects and we go tank'n for Dahlin.

To say the Oilers have nothing to play for except pride is truly a ridiculous statement with 56 games and 112 points still available. They are only 7 points out of a wild card.
A three game win streak, certainly attainable for this team if they get even average goaltending, would change the equation dramatically in a week.
Yes, they have teams to climb over but there is a lot of hockey to be played before playing for pride is all that is left.
