If Drai was traded for anything other than a massive overpay the fan base would riot and Chia might have to go into witness protection...

Simmonds doesn't do it for me as a good return for Draisaitl

Just trying to get a reaction, easy pickings.
Drai is untradeable with that contract until he starts to look like an elite player again who can produce without the perimeter superstar McDavid.
Good luck with that.

No package unless its on our side. Drai or Drai plus for a bonifide number one.

"How about these three pieces for Leon?"

"No"

Just for giggles, who would you target specifically? McDonagh? Faulk?

More like a 3rd and Gryba for Grabner. If he resigns, he gets free prescriptions from Katz on Rexall meds.

Let's also not forget that you included Khaira (who has been having a great season so far and who many possibly see him as a future replacement for Maroon...........).................

If they need a warm body being sent back, Gryba would make the most sense for them and for us.

- EdmHockeyMan

How has Khaira had a great season? He's been in and out of the lineup and very inconsistent. And many see him as a replacement for Maroon? Who? Maxbone? And then you of course because you suck his d!ck and gargle it down every post he makes?

Okay, but who would be? Just trying to gauge your opinion of Draisaitl's worth, but its awfully hard if you don't name an actual D.

He's producing well in the role he's been given, especially when many (myself included) doubted he'd ever be an NHL regular.

And playing for a squad that is fighting hard for a playoff spot. Grabner is not for sale, and the cost of convincing NYR otherwise would be prohibitive.

I’d rather the Oilers target someone like Simmonds. Dude is slumping hard right now, as are the Flyers. It would be unpopular as (frank), but I’d like to see a deal where Draisaitl and picks are traded for Simmonds and one of the Flyers top end young D prospects/players. I can’t see Simmonds making anything near 8.5 on his next contract, so there’d be cap savings as well which means we could keep Nuge.

Doubt anyone would agree or be happy about such a move however.

Maroon-McDavid-Simmonds
Lucic-Nuge-Puljujarvi
Caggiula-Strome-Slepyshev
Khaira-Letestu-Kassian

I could live with this.

- Wildschwein

YAY!
All aboard the Simmonds train!

I was a huge proponent of trading Ebs in a package for an upgrade on the RW and I thought Simmonds was a great option(before he was traded; and the other option was for a top 4 D).

I'm a big fan of Simmond's game but if we are sending LD (considering how much younger he is than Simmonds and his overall abilities) AND possibly picks, that young D defender prospect better be amazing!

Simmond's contract should be around the 6m mark with higher term or 7m with lower term.

Assuming you want somebody young:
Seth Jones?
Oliver Ekman-Larson?
Victor Hedman? (never happen)
Ivan Provorov?

Um, no. Schwein explains exactly why he has been having a great season so far in the post above.

As for Who, well, you got Schwein, Bone, HB, and Me now making that point/recognizing/agreeing to/this/on about Khaira.

Sooooooooooo........... a bit spastic on your part no?

All would be wonderful, but...

1) Never happen. They traded their #1 C to get him.
2) Could happen, but what will his next contract look like? If he'd sign for 7 mill or less then I'd be awfully tempted.
3) Never happen as you said.
4) Would love to have him. No idea what it would cost to get him.

These are the two things that worry me. Considering Simmonds age, I'd prefer that the term of his next deal be no higher than 4 years, and frankly I doubt he'd do that.
As far as the D coming back, I'd want Provorov. The cost would be bloody high though.

At any rate I'm bored as (frank) and mostly just spitballing ideas.

We'll just have to pay him his higher end FA market value. Simmonds at 7m for 4y's would be solid with me then. He gets the higher end value of the FA market (IMO) but with less term. He'll be 33 when that contract is over.

I would love me some Provorov if LD is involved.

LD/1st for Provorov/Simmonds would most likely be the starting point with us possibly adding.
