Saw a t-shirt today at the store. It says:

My two favorite teams are Buffalo and anyone who beats New England.

I said that right there is evidence of how much we accept a losing culture because

1.) It acknowledges Buffalo can't beat a Division rival that regularly loses to the other 2 teams in the division

and

2.) That they're bandwagon fans who will root for whatever team is hot

and

3.) Our losing culture is well-known, accepted and "funny"

Flipping out on a message bird will definitely help the Bills beat the Pats

I dunno, we missed out mcjesus sure it stings. We picked the wrong guy in Reinhart, that stings too.

But the team that got mcdavid and picked the right guy in 2014....They're terrible too. As much as these mistakes are pointed, this isn't where it went wrong for the organization.

Put Mcjesus and Draisaitl on this team in place of Eichel and Reinhart and you've still got a D-core whose value in production and cap is worse than what some 8 year old could put together.

The true horror is that he didn't just leave the defence unfinished. He spent actual assets and dollars to make it markedly worse than it was before. How the (frank) is that even possible?

- Sabresfan-365

Don't you know? Our passion and the heaven of hockey that is Buffalo would will McDavid and Draisaitl to respond to every "Let's go Buffalo!" chant and we would have already won 5 Stanley Cups with them.

In all seriousness though, I wouldn't care because we would literally have the best player or at the very least, the 2nd best player in the NHL on our team.

And I also don't care where Edmonton is, that team has nothing to do with ours and the only thing we have in common is how incompetent both teams have been run for the last 10 years.

How do u get that message across when SO MANY are underperforming?

Moving one guy who is, doesn’t get your point across if we still have 12 more guys who also are...
and ya can’t trade everyone

U just wanna shake things up just to do something
I prefer moves to be made if they’re the right ones to BUILD the team correctly

- jdfitz77

Trading someone who’s viewed as a core player sends that message across.

Plus Reinhart is bad and won’t be missed

Isn't this settling? Like yeah we cant win for poop but at least we made southern ontario jealous for a few months? I don't care about edmonton either, just using it as an example. They made the right picks but like us incompetent management (frank)ed them hard

Wasn’t your boy Tim Murray part of running us in these last 10 years of incompetence?

But yet...
you think he got a raw deal & should still be the GM

Yeah, makes sense

I’m fine with it if it’s the right deal
Trading someone only to “shake things up” is failed logic unless it’s a good trade

Got some examples of how this worked to make things better?

LSD in my bathroom curled up in the bathtub with the shower running on me usually makes me think I'm in a Bushwick Warehouse with a bunch of beatnik bohemians, and I come out feeling great either way.

If that's the aim of it you're better off moving someone like ROR or even Risto. I dont think the team even views Reinhart as a core player

Would rather keep Reinhart, sign him to a 2-year bridge deal @ $2.5 million each and get rid of Oko, Bogo and Moulson. Put Reinhart up with Jack and trade him at a later date when his value is much higher.

The Russian factor died when he went to the USHL and his brother committed to Junior hockey before him.

The risk factor is almost non existent

- Sabresfan-365

Edmonton picked the wrong guy at GM. As long as Chia is there, they'll never win a cup, and if they fire him today, the damage is already done. They have a sub-par defense and goaltending and no wing support, plus bad contracts for the foreseeable future.

Yes and no, because the odds of McDavid winning a Stanley Cup in his career are exponentially higher than Eichel's. We'd still be watching a magical player who has a ton of compete, instead of an entitled floater who refuses to play system hockey.

Right now, both teams are a tire-fire, but McDavid is an absolute joy to watch play, while Eichel is as polarizing as Afinogenov at this point.

Except Afinogenov was still exciting on his worst nights.

I still find him exciting on most nights. He still creates chances but his body language is getting tiresome. This defeatist attitude...it's like the one "intangible" i actually give a poop about re: leadership

If nothing else is accomplished this year Id like them to figure out the reason the best powerplay became an AHL powerplay.

I fully expected a drop off, but maybe to the middle of the pack. They were 0 for 3 with zero shots despite having two of the leagues best shot getters.
