I worry that fans expectations are unreasonable. Young players are normally terrible. Towns has a ton of potential, but is still awful defensively. - PhillySportsGuy
Really their biggest issue is the turnovers, and by no means is this a groundbreaking comment. |

I've been down on the coaching staff for a while and felt they should have been changed last offseason. The same problems that existed early in Hak's tenure still exist today. We have a 2.5 year sample size and the team has played at a 90 point pace over that time. That gets you the 18-20th best record. It's hard to look at that as a success considering the team has made a concerted effort to be competitive (playoff caliber). The team still struggles to score at even strength, they still can't kill penalties and the power play is still predictable.
I would be more open to keeping him if the younger players were showing progression under his tutelage, but each of them seems to get completely lost for long periods of time. I understand that young players struggle, but I haven't really seen any of them adding skills or removing bad habits of their games. They all seem like the same players they've been. - PhillySportsGuy
He's a great coach. Just needs more talent. |

He needs to go. I’m torn whether the best time is now or the end of the season.
Either way, I think Hex is very loyal to this guy. He might be here longer than we all think. GM tying his fate to his HC may bite him in the ass eventually too. We shall see. - flyer_nutter
He deserves the year. They are young and hex has taken away for futures more than he has helped the current roster by design. I mean filpulla, the Swiss Army knife he is, was deemed by Tampa as someone that couldn’t help them. He’s our 2nd line center. Lehtera also
I worry more about what is going on in Lehigh. Why can’t we get in sync with both clubs like Pittsburgh does. They are in lock step with systems, preparation, everything they do.
Hex just hires a retread and a bunch of ahl all stars and calls it development
Besides hagg I’m not seeing the impact from the phantoms that I think we should be. |

I really don’t know who I want. I don’t really get excited by Sutter/Gordon.
Knob is just another noob and that’s the last thing the club needs.

It's probably something that will always plague them because of their playing style. They pass the ball a lot and put guys in motion constantly. It's a product of having a motion offense. You'll get better shots, but you'll turn it over more. |

That's true, but wouldn't you think as they get more comfortable with each other they'll cut down to something closer to league average?
Not the crazy basketball watcher, but I akin their game to the Spurs a little. Heavy passing/catch and shoot/chemistry based system. Now I did say a little because for years the Spurs played the best team basketball some of us have ever seen, and I don't expect the Sixers to play to that level, but that's what I see them emulating. |

Turnover will certainly go down over time. Embiid is a major culprit. He struggles with double teams, but is getting better. The most important thing is getting deep post position and he's been doing more of that lately. It's harder to double, the closer you are to the basket.
Getting Fultz will help as well because it will be him attacking closeouts rather than guys like ReRichard, Covington and TLC all the time. Those three guys really struggle when they have to put the ball on the floor. |

I've noticed Embiid just kind of fumbles it away sometimes when he posts up. He'll certainly improve in that aspect.
EDIT: Last night there was a play where Jo was doubled just outside the paint, and he recognized it, turned and pulled up a jumper right into 3 arms, and got a foul. Seems like a not terrible strategy, no?
I really want to see a) what Fultz brings skill wise and b) how that effects the rest of the guys on the floor. He really could be an x factor. This shoulder thing is pretty whacky |

Have you ever played pickup hockey? That's the Phantom's system.
Have you ever read about medieval siege warfare? That's the Flyers system. |

I think the odds are getting worse of Hakstol being around long enough for this Flyers team to really develop and max out. I'd like to see them hold onto him as long as possible as a coaching carousel is the worst thing for them in my view. Still, these extended season killing slumps seem to be a Hakstol trademark. Give him the rest of the season no matter what and make a move, if needed, in the off season. |

wanting the flyers to be just bad enough to miss the playoffs but not bad enough to pick a stud proved to be a no where road last year anyway |

In my opinion, the PK is only as good as the player who needs to be the best player on this ice during that time, the goalie.
They Flyers goalies over the last season and a quarter have been meh at best.
Better goaltending covers up the breakdowns that the PK will experience being a man short.
