The way the players are seems sort of like a mid 1st (henrique), Blandisi (3rd) and a 3rd. |

Last year was his best IMO, he's improved as a GM. I'd extend, now watch Nucker and co. tear a strip off me - neem55
Nah, I've fully admitted that he's improving. But he had nowhere to go but up after a some very questionable moves to start. Hiring a GM who has to learn on the job was a bad move. I wouldn't hire a guy who's learning on the job to run my multi-million dollar company.
One good TDL and decent summer isn't going to erase all of the mistakes, but it certainly helps. If he has another good TDL then I'll start to re-consider.
Personally, I'd "Tallon" him and give him a lesser, scouting-based role with the organization where he still has a strong say in drafting and targeting players in trades but doesn't handle contracts/trades and mask the move by announcing it as a "re-shuffle" or "promotion". Long shot that he'd accept that role though, it's a big blow to anyone's pride.
I'd get rid of Linden for sure though, he had a strong say in hiring WD who sucked, and he's attached to the Sedins emotionally. By all accounts he's a class act, but I don't think he's cut out for this job. You have to be able to make the tough decisions and do what's best for the team.
Sounds like an extension is incoming anyway. Boeser and EP saved JB's job, without them he's probably done. If EP ends up being a 1st liner, JV can end up becoming a solid 3rd liner and OJ becomes a solid top 4 dman then suddenly I think all of us will be happy to forget his bad/questionable moves.

I think Vatanen being signed for an extra year over Henrique makes up for the little bit of extra that NJ added. Blandisi is a 23 year old who hasn't cracked the NHL full-time yet, I think him being worth a 3rd rounder is being generous. |

I was wondering if Tanev has more Value, they aren't exactly similar styles. I would think Tanev has just slightly more value then Vatanen. - manvanfan
Easily worth more. Vatanen needs to be sheltered to be effective, Tanev is the one who allows you to shallow other dman by playing all the tough minutes. |

He has 28 points in 68 games in the NHL. I don't know what is wrong with his game. Scoring at almost a PPG rate in the AHL. Sounds like a 3rd rounder for value.
Edit: has 26 points but is 38th in scoring for his 2012 draft. |

He's waiver eligible next year when he'll be 24 years old so he's getting close to make or break which hurts his value. I like his production, but there's risk with trading a 3rd rounder for a guy you might have to waive in less than a year if he has a mediocre camp. |

2014/2015: 37 points, most offensive zone starts among regular ANA D
2015/2016: 38 Points, 2nd most offensive zone starts among regular ANA D
2016/2017: 24 Points, lowest offensive zone starts among regular ANA D
ANA fans loved him and then last year he became a whipping boy when Carlyle started giving him hard minutes. |

I don't mind the deal from either side. Henrique was the most popular guy in the Devils so a lot of fans are probably pissed and feeling like it was an overpayment but it's a better deal than a lot of trades we've seen for offensive D-men lately. |

Was hoping for that tonight.... should be fun to watch even though Preds tough to play against. JV staying in as well and away from Sedins should be good to see too. |

Hutton demoted from top 4 role but MDZ and Pouliot get nod to haul top 4 minutes with Tanev and Edler. Should lesson some of the bonehead mistakes if they all play within capabilities. |
