Why should Edler, or any player for that matter, have to fight because they made a clean body check? That’s the stupidest way to “stick up for a teammate” I can think of. - 1970vintage
For starters "Edler" & "fight" don't belong in the same sentence. |

Because 4pm starts on the weekend rock. Especially as a parent of young children who like to go to the games. - bloatedmosquito
Yeah, I don’t get all the hate, I love the eastern road trips because I actually get to watch some hockey. |

He seems to be being criticized for not fighting after laying out Ardvedsen last night. Kid tried to go down the wall and got nailed. |

California teams seem to start at 7:30. That’s too late for me. No wonder fans on the east coast don’t get to watch them live very often. - bloatedmosquito
tbh, i'd rather the early game on weekends. gives you the opportunity to do something with your night rather than planning your night around hockey.
absolutely hate the 7:30 times. |

Just the way the game has evolved. Bottom line is if you are going to have players taking runs at your top guys (clean or not) there needs to be consequences. Need to lose the instigator rule. |

For the most part the east coast is oblivious to the west no matter what time of day. |

In the Summer I put down my usual bet on the Canucks for the cup (waste of money I know... they were 100-1 at the time). I also threw down a bit of cash on Tampa for some reason. They were 14-1 at the time. Pretty happy with that right now |

Why? This makes no sense. Nobody “took a run” at anyone. If someone has to fight every time there is a body check this game is done. |

i hear ya and i largely agree especially when you say that this is how the game has evolved.
it used to be that you had to fight for a dirty hit OR a big hit on a star.
now, it seems that you have to fight for any big hit.
instigator rule aside, that's freaking dumb as sh!t (and very far from old school hockey). |

So if Boeser gets corked 'cleanly' 7 times/game you are ok with that? On one hand I agree clean checks should be clean checks but if you give the opposition the impression that nothing will be done ever they will start taking way more liberties above what we deem as 'clean' checks. It's a tough subject but again just the way the game has gone. |

Instigator rule or not, I think taking the 2 minute penalty is worth it. Sometimes you hear the term ‘good penalty’. In the situation you described, I would consider it a good penalty. |

No worries our players will let apposing players punch guys like D Sedin in the face over and over, no consequence. That was a while ago, but we have zero toughness currently. That doesn't make it easy if you make the playoffs, as we know. |

absolutely. i would hope the team is collectively physically tougher when they are able to compete for the playoffs.
don't need or want him to fight but some snarl would do bo some good. |

IF Boeser is getting clocked 7 times per game then he is doing something wrong. If I was his teammate i’d tell him to keep his head up. But this is hyperbole, no one gets hit that often. |

Dorsett is gone, Gudbranson probably is as well. There is no grit, zero. |
