I haven't watched any games since October, when I came back overseas, however, looking at stats I'm wondering why Jake Virtanen's icetime is being restricted by Green? Goldobin comes in and immediately plays 13 minutes but Virtanen is again only handed 9 minutes.

Is it his play, because it reads well, is he missing zone assignments, what's the deal with him and Travis Green?

No PP or PK time, playing 3rd/4th line? Goldy playing 1st line...

Tonight, the Sedins became the only brothers in the history of the NHL to EACH tally 1000 points in their career. Hats off. Pretty damn amazing

I understand he's been playing with the twins which would be second or third line minutes but if he's line-matching that would explain why Sutter is getting so many minutes in a checking role if Green is a big line-matching guy.

hmm that looks familiar... wonder where I read that about line matching....?

Oh and to add...JV has been freed/unleashed from Sedins of late ....LE is playing well with them.

Does Gaunce fight?

...after a little googling...the answer appears to be 1 NHL fight, a year ago.

He might have to step this up...and so will JV.

Actually, the answer is pretty easy... Archibald. Maybe thats why they gave him such a long look in training camp.... they knew DD was not 100% with a high chance of re-injury.

I am not sure if he is healthy.

I can’t say for sure, because i’m not watching every night, but when I do, he is playing a regular shift with his line mates at 5v5 only. I think he is getting sheltered zone starts in favorable matchups whenever possible, and he is probably missing a shift here or there after a PP or PK as the lines come back together, rather than getting the next shift with other guys.

He is seeing extremely limited PP time and no PK time. 16 minutes tonight were either PP or PK in the game which definitely eats up virtanens ice time. Hes not getting benched or anything, just not seeing any special team toi while his linemates do

Just finished the 1st period, I think Jake had 4 shifts, the first three were short, one might have even been sub 20 seconds. Then NAS got their first PP of the game. PK forwards were Horvsey and Eriksey, then Granny and Goncer. The next off lines was Gags-Seds-Horvey-Seds-Granny. Virtsey went about 7 minutes between shifts.

Nah, I've fully admitted that he's improving. But he had nowhere to go but up after a some very questionable moves to start. Hiring a GM who has to learn on the job was a bad move. I wouldn't hire a guy who's learning on the job to run my multi-million dollar company.

One good TDL and decent summer isn't going to erase all of the mistakes, but it certainly helps. If he has another good TDL then I'll start to re-consider.

Personally, I'd "Tallon" him and give him a lesser, scouting-based role with the organization where he still has a strong say in drafting and targeting players in trades but doesn't handle contracts/trades and mask the move by announcing it as a "re-shuffle" or "promotion". Long shot that he'd accept that role though, it's a big blow to anyone's pride.

I'd get rid of Linden for sure though, he had a strong say in hiring WD who sucked, and he's attached to the Sedins emotionally. By all accounts he's a class act, but I don't think he's cut out for this job. You have to be able to make the tough decisions and do what's best for the team.

Sounds like an extension is incoming anyway. Boeser and EP saved JB's job, without them he's probably done. If EP ends up being a 1st liner, JV can end up becoming a solid 3rd liner and OJ becomes a solid top 4 dman then suddenly I think all of us will be happy to forget his bad/questionable moves.

- Nucker101

Linden seems to have worked out like another dumb move and giving the C to Luongo. Nothing to do with anything but PR.
