Yeah, just like how we all overvalue our players.

Listen I'm not saying he's the second coming. But he would instantly be our 2nd best defenseman, it would be a move to shore up our weakest position (no, it isn't goaltender), while managing to flip a guy or two in the process.

Ok. Maybe Anaheim didn't want Kane and maybe Botterill didn't want Vatanen... But our lack of urgency across this entire organization, from Pegula down to the fanbase, is sickening.

Patience? Trust the process?

I've got 50 years of history that says all of this is the loveliest smoke that's ever been blown up an ass.

BTW: Nice to have you back around, 89.

Yeah, I get lambated for being an "Emotional mess"

Yet all I see is the same damn excuses, homerism and nauseating "optimism" from the same damn people, here, at work, out at a bar, anywhere in this town the people still refuse to put their foot down and say how unacceptable these teams have been run since the 'savior' Terry Pegula bought them.

He's had more than enough time to right both ships.

What a joke. This team is a (frank)ing joke. Just like it's fans.

Yeah, because I came down from the Middle-Eastern steppes with a clay slab that said "No one is allowed to discuss this trade from the Ducks perspective"

We. Are. Sabres. Followers.

(frank) the Ducks side of it.

(frank) all of the supposed logic and arguments to be made.

FROM A SABRES PERSPECTIVE there is NO EXCUSE for Vatanen to NOT be in a Sabres uniform given what Anaheim gave him up for.

Adam. Henrique. We have at least 3 comparable players on this roster. ROR, Reinhart, Kane.

Again, Anaheim, with the addition of Henrique, HAVE ELEVEN CENTERS under contract. Injuries aside, they have 11 NHL Centers.

None of us know what Anaheim wanted, and I'm saying that doesn't matter, because it really doesn't as far as the Sabres are concerned.

I'm saying that Botterill absolutely whiffed on this and unoffcially, gave up on the season.

There's no reason for Kane to still be on this roster. I refuse to believe his behavior/off-ice issues have anything to do with it. Contract? That can be worked out. You might all completely disagree and you can come at me for this, but this trade 100% absolutely confirms Evander Kane's value as a player is low because he has a darker skin-tone.

Adam Henrique. 40-Point player extraordinaire. No one was lining up to get this guy on their team. No one. Yet all I have heard is praise for this guy, his entire career. He's Antoine Vermette, Sam Gagner, take your pick.

$7.5 million
Pending RFA gonna be due a raise and aren't so sure who he is
A Pending UFA that is going to ask for $6-7 million off the bat

That is why Vatanen is not a Buffalo Sabre.

It's great being this emotional about a team you live and breathe, however this isn't freaking NHL 2018.

I'd recommend not holding on to Rob in any way...doesn't seem like he'd like that

Meh. I think most saw the Sabres taking a step forward. Maybe not playoffs but a team on the rise. They did revamp their defense (even tho it did not work). And the whole "Jack Eichel will be fully healthy" thing. not to mention hiring a coach that specialized in defense.

But yea...none of that really worked out

- MCGUIZZY

That's not necessarily saying they upgraded it enough though.

And it's impossible to say if it worked or not yet, they have yet to ice their full lineup this season.

I dunno man, if I'm any NHL team right now, I'm taking Reinhart over Henrique and it's not even close. 2 years of a 40+ point player who went 2nd overall vs. a player who's scored 50-points twice in 8-years, and hardly topped that mark both times.

Not to mention, like I said, Anaheim is not thin at center. They had a few assets on defense to play with. They didn't exactly need another middling center.

Now, as far as THIS season goes, they absolutely need a winger who can put the puck in the net. It's been said numerous times we'd be willing to absorb close to 50% on Kane's contract, that no one is going to offer him max term, he will come down on his asking price, etc...

So, what exactly do we have down in the AHL? Guhle.... and.... ???

I dunno man. The towel has been thrown in this season already.

Watch. You watch. Kane will go down with an injury right after the all-star break and we won't get crap for him. You either extend him a week ago or you trade him yesterday, his value is not going to get higher, because he's not going to hit even 40 goals this season, let alone the 50 he was at one point on-pace for.

In hindsight, GMTM had a much better plan and we were still trending up going into this season.

Now? Botterill is icing one of the least competitive teams I have ever seen play. I refuse to believe we just got the short end of the stick with all of our picks over the past few years, this is 100% on coaching and roster management.

Oh my god, I never thought I'd say this, but Bylsma was 100% the right coach for this joke of a team.

- BeadyEyedDouche

A. Gmtm just plugged a few nhl players in our line up thru trades. Signed a UFA in okposo. Drafted 3 high picks. Reinhart and nylander are not good. That was the plan.

B. Jbotts , draft middlestat, draft top defenseman this year. Build up rochester. Teach and make the young guys to earn their spots.

You're choosing A?

Yeah, but he says everything is going to suck, so...

It's much easier to just say "we suck" and not have to put yourself out there.

It's sad that my passion comes through over a message board but our joke of a hockey team can't even passionately suck their drinks down after the game on Chippewa but they can ride a tandem bicycle to work, at least.

It was a serious question.

On one hand, I absolutely love that they demanded greatness from their program. I just don't necessarily like how they went about it (using "he said-she said" testimony from the Penn State case).

His numbers this year are on par with gorges. Let that sink in for a quick sec
- Sabresfan-365

Trading for him changes nothing, this team is still bad due to bad players let alone bad contracts.

Slight edge goes to A.

Love the way Rochester is coming together.

Last time that happened we still ended up with ZERO Stanley Cups and a soft, perimeter team that ran it's two best players since the French connection out of town because they refused to offer a contract when they would have taken it, instead, offered it to a guy who all but said he was going to sign in NYR and then tried to call up the one we stood up and take them to the same restaurant but with a coupon for free appetizers.

In the end, they will get the product they asked for.
