The best way not to hear the Chanting is not allow goals- just like we didn't have to hear your annoying little song in last years playoffs because......we shut you out twice at home. I liked it, I loved it.

And you still suck, and you are getting worse. Hello draft lottery

I understand why you lurk around here....it must get lonely for you online with nobody to talk to as there are clearly only about 5 total Trashville fans that have internet access in 2017.

Talk about a mixed messsge and mixed results, the situation in Texas is similar yet the end result is the same how last season ended and this season unfolds (so far)

I always admired the gruff Ruff, who would sit out a player whom he was displeased with - particulatly their effort. The Stars have some high end talent up front although they were out with injuries sometimes. The last few years you think of Dallas & i conjure up once promising goaltending has faltered and now Bishop is their upgrade in net.

Roussell - that scoundrel - saves some good moments for Chicago. Mention players you really dislike, and he comes to mind along with Anaheim Ducks, R Reeves
I personally hate Coyle for his tactics on Keith, but i digress

Dallas has a young defense like us. They have been not good enough despite veterans Hamhuis and Methot addition. Their young defensemen are promising but have not and maybe will not take that next step in development. Think Johns, Oleksiak. They do not want to give Honka, a first rounder, a fair opportunity by playing him infrequently. They dispatched Goligowski and apparently were willing to see how Klingback handles offensive responsibility. Patteryn landed in Texas as well.

What you will see if you look closely is a lot of size throughout the roster. Klingback is really their only lightweight. Some big forwards, too, including Faksa, a first rounder ftom '12 draft who had a hattie a couple games or so ago.

I do not know how a coach who wears out his approach is brought back. Hitchcock has a lot of size on his roster
Should he be more in tune with going to a more open skating style as he and Yeo had expressed to the Blues .or does Hitch want the extra helping of goon hockey Hitch teams have been known for.

The two upcoming tilts may very well be a draw, one game victory to both teams. It is a battle of teams with much new personnel last year and this. I am not going to say it could resemble a Bears black and blue division game. But Hitch is the kind who wouldn't mind the play turning rough.

Preds have a good team, and I enjoy watching them. My brother (also a Hawks' fan) has season tickets 8 rows behind the Preds' bench, so I make it to about 7 or 8 games a year. This was the first regular season meeting against the Hawks' that I have missed since Dec 2015. When they're not playing the Hawks, I just go because I like watching good hockey, and Nashville tends to bring it no matter who they're playing. I'll be at the game against the LVGNs on 12/8, and can't wait to see how they look with Turris in the lineup.

My only problem is the lack of class. What's the old saying? Act like you've been there before? Oh yeah, I forgot, you haven't been!

True, I may be wrong on the retirement recapture. The buyout is off CapFriendly

No retirement penalty for Seabrook. But would you retire if you were making 6.8M doing a half-assed job? I know I wouldn't.

At least when we put you out in the first round (once with our backup goalie), we have the common decency to actually win the cup.

Hossa AND Seabrook on LTIR? I am all for it but the rest of the league, not to mention HB, would lose their minds.

With the league seeming to let some head hits go while they police the ticky tack stuff you can bet there will be some more concussion related LTIRs......player gets his money for the league turning a blind eye.

I always thought that if Hossa didn't finish out his contract it would be due to head hits and now this is how I feel about Seabs.

I think the emergence of Forsling and Rutta as a reliable 2nd pair that can play big minutes on the PK means the need for a Dman is less dire. 3rd line center is the biggest need IMO.

EDIT: What the Hawks really need is for Brent Seabrook to remember how to play hockey like he used to.

Hopefully LTIR does not become synonymous with a different definition for this acronym: long term indifferent referees. They call the game how Bettman says, even if Bettman may use secret code to get his wishes spelled out.

Do you recall old tv commercials spawning several decades where a kid gets a pie in the face for loudly
screaming the newspaper headline. Long Chevrolet. Well It is also some kind of board game. I say Bettman and his referees put out an NHL version. Fans can give Bettman a pie in the face.

No need for LTIR. He could retire and the cap hit would come off. They could then pay him with some sort of personal appearances contract to make up some of the lost salary. You have to assume that he is ready to retire though and thats a big assumption for a guy his age. He knows he is being beat like a drum right now, so either there is a injury reason, or wear and tear has just left him a shell of what he used to be. He has already made a ton of money, but I'm pretty sure he isn't going to just walk away from $40+ mil.

I think its a pretty fair assessment. Powers is a fairly straight shooter, and one thing he does very well in the article is separate the actual performance of the player from the "expected" performance based on salary. Over the years players on this board take tons of heat about their performance based on what they are being paid. Toews and Seabrook are the current whipping boys, taking the place of Bickell, Huet, Rosival, Hossa and others over the years.

If you evaluate play based solely on performance with no expectations based on salary level, its different. Seabrook has been crap whether he is drawing $7mil or $1mil, Toews play has not been bad, just not up to the expectations of the cap hit.
