We just out shot, out possessed, and basically outplayed Nashville for 3/4 of a game (barring the first half of that second period) in our second game in 2 days. Had Kane and Toews both not missed the net, I think the tune would have been a little different today. Also, Rinne played out of his mind against us, as per usual. - JRoenick97
Well I hope I'm wrong . My opinion wasn't based on one game or even games between them.Just the personal of the teams and what I have seen so far. |

I wasn't implying we are definitely better, but it was a much better performance than our first game against them, which we won, ironically. I'm just happy to see a turn around in a team that looked checked out and all out of sorts to start the season. I gave myself a 30 game "buffer" that I promised to follow before I started getting concerned, and I'm glad I did. Hopefully it is sustained improvement. |

Look I love Seabrook to death but he has become a liability. It seems like every game he has a puck bounce off him and it goes into our net. He is not very physical anymore and neither is Murphy by the way. I would like to see ADB moved up to the second line and Schmaltz center the third line with Hartman and anybody but Sharp. He needs to hang up the gloves. |

Anything else? maybe a new goalie or a whole new line? Jesus. - JRoenick97
If we want to contend for the cup those are positions that needed. Yes you can keep wiggles at center on the 4th line and flip panik for dcat. But still need a d man lw top 6 and 3rd line center[url] |

Thats all? 2 centers a top 6 winger and a solid D-man. Not too much of an ask.
Realistically speaking, They definitely need a center. They need a solid D-man, OR the young defensemen to continue to progress and develop. A winger along the lines of E.Kane/Simmonds would be great, but no-thanks to another Weise/Fleishman type deal, again let the kids develop if that is the only choice. - TheTrob
I m saying that all will get filled but hawks want another cup then yea center and another solid dman is needed |

I think the emergence of Forsling and Rutta as a reliable 2nd pair that can play big minutes on the PK means the need for a Dman is less dire. 3rd line center is the biggest need IMO.
EDIT: What the Hawks really need is for Brent Seabrook to remember how to play hockey like he used to. |

Not until the Hawks go 82-0 in the regular season and 16-0 in the playoffs. |

Agreed. I also agree with what another poster said (LBR, I think) about a new 3C doesn't need to be a big name player but someone who can take defensive draws which also implies being good at faceoffs and playing a reliable game in all zones.
I am also happy with the steady (maybe slower than desired but still trending in the right direction) development of Murphy. He plays physical and his hits leave marks. Seems like at least once a game he literally knocks someone down on their butt. |

If the team wasnt clicking like it is maybe he would sit a game or two? I doubt it, and hopefully they keep gelling and we dont have to find out. But he might benefit from sitting out a bit. |

Seabrook has turned into a quicker way of saying "beating a dead horse" on this board. At least 20% of the posts take him to task.
There is no short term solution. Retirement makes Stanbo on the hook cap wise for 7X7. A buy out would run 3.2, 3.9, 6.8, 3.9, 6.8, 5.3, then 1.0 every year until the Bears win the Superbowl again. So two bad options. He has a NMC. Even if waved, the sweetener required to eat that bad contract would be staggering. Right now the only hope is he taps into the fountain of youth... |

might be a bad question...but if Seabrook retires, the Hawks are on the hook for the remainder of his contract? I wasn't aware of that. I didn't realize for current contracts that was the case. I only thought for the old contracts like keith/hossa |

Fair point. But other than Red Wings we would not chant that at other teams. Correct me if I am wrong but Nashville does it to all their opponents...right? - onehundredlevel
Since I worked 27 hours the last two days, I didn't have time to comment on this from the last blog. Yes, this is part of their song when they score. They play Tim McGraw's "I Like it, I Love it" then everyone chants "Hey, you suck!" three times, then something I can never understand, then "you" five or six times. Then after the goal is announced, they chant the goalie's name three time, say "you suck" again, and finally chant "it's all your fault" a few times. I actually really like Nashville, but for the organization to encourage this behavior is classless! |

No penalty if he retires. His contract wasn't a recapture one nor was he over 36. |

He's also played significantly better since Q moved him with Murphy and took him off the PP. |

The best way not to hear the Chanting is not allow goals- just like we didn't have to hear your annoying little song in last years playoffs because......we shut you out twice at home. I liked it, I loved it.
And you still suck, and you are getting worse. Hello draft lottery |

You are annoying, but you're also pretty clever.
sorry everyone, this was a quality burn. Except for the getting worse part, Hawks are turning things around slowly. |

Fair point not sold on Rutta still I think a better version of TVR I still think that we really don't what Rutta is, been a nice surprise and there is a lot of games left to get better.

Or a work stoppage in 2020 while the CBA gets renegotiated and possibly some sort of compliance buyouts are allowed for each team. Hawks aren't the only ones regretting some bad contracts. The Wild and Parise, Habs and Weber (he's beginning to miss more time as he ages). |

True, I may be wrong on the retirement recapture. The buyout is off CapFriendly |
