What I meant was that the NHL club would spend / make moves to try and be competitive for the duration of their contracts. This is the too loyal part I noted. I get it, I just don’t agree it was the best course of action. After the twins retire, the club won’t “owe it” to anyone (other then the fans) and will hopefully adjust their strategy moving forward.

The building up of prospects is another matter, and I am generally happy with how that has gone.

Got it and agree.

I've been overly critical of the 'process' but we are seeing some results. I'm glad management and coaches have adjusted the twins ice time based on their impact on the game and not just based on their contribution over the years to the club.

Hope they keep that up until the twins earn their ice time. Strange typing that...

Edler is the guy I'm watching to see what he does once the twins leave. From what I understand he's tied to their hip. Always has been. Like a dim witted third brother.

I think youre bang on except i dont think virtanen gets 1.5. Granlund got 800k and sven got 900k or something out of their elcs and put up more points (obv more games played).
I hope gudbranson is gone cause anything more then 2.5-3 million per year is overpayment for a bottom pairing guy.

EG may be bottom pairing but thats not the full picture. PK & toughness on a soft team gets him more as did DD get. Good news is his position is not a strong one to hit the jackpot but as a UFA he would do better. Comes down to his loyalty & character.

I’m no fan of Edler these days but while he is here & no D to push him down the pairings its all good. We r still 2yrs minimum away from seeing this rebuild bear fruit. This next draft is crucial for us to get high end D talent. OJ will help.

Dahlin
Boqvist
Hughes
Merkley

Anyone of them makes us much better & our chances of getting one is good.

I agree, it really does take the long game to build from within unless you're both lucky and a genius on the draft floor, but, you don't have to be really good at all facets of the game to win a Championship. In my opinion anyways.

Lots of examples of scoring deficient teams who win with good defense, when LA won in 2012 they were second last in GF (194) but they were second best in GA (179). 2014 was very much the same sixth last in GF but number one in GA.

Conversely, some of high scoring teams who aren't great defensively win too, last year Pittshburgh was in the bottom half of the league in GA, seventeenth, but they were the best by a wide margin in GF with 282. Outscored their defensive deficiencies.

If only there could be a lock out with a full lottery and a Crosby at the top of it. Teams have to work harder than them to get to that offensive threshold that's for sure. I'm so fkn tired of the luck factor... it better turn around for us soon.

If we come out of the draft with any of these players, i will be very happy. Some more than others obviously. Wouldnt be sad with tkachuk or Svechnikov either but the D class is strong this year

Normally BPA makes sense although i don’t buy into BPA. Rather trade down & nab an Offensive D. Need is more important in our case unless its a F gamebreaker. Idk if thats the case so pick need & trade if available to do so this next draft. Trading up or down i luv if we like the return.

He compared his injury to cancer and then asked when the candle light vigil was happening. The dude was insanely insensitive man. Then talked about losing a trade chip immediately after he went for a dr appointment

Insensitive to the possibilities. Not to the severity that we finally know about. Let's pick new fights. This one is so fkn stale. We need to campaign for new members so we can find a new one to hate. It's like Rocky 20...

Our top priorities & hopes as i see it:

Draft 2 highly offensive D
- every teams wish lol
Demko to be that elite goalie when ready
- tracking well & on schedule
EP & Gaudette to be as advertised.
- we need C to be deep & strong
Goldy to show he belongs permanently
- has the tools just play the 200’ game
Dahlen to be our own Johnny Hockey
- a lil premature but kid has game
Gadjovich to skate his way to the show
- could be a fan fave if he does

Hoping Rathbone was a steal but still years away from seeing if he is. Chances are slim but JB was a D & i figure he knows something. Fingers crossed

Forgot Lind but see him as a Swiss Army knife type of player who can play up & down the line up with an edge.
