I think fans are delusional... Smith wasn’t that great in playoffs. Skjei carried him. Guarentee if we had waited to see if we could sign Shatty, we pass on Smith. Problem was Gorton wasn’t taking a chance on not getting either.

How can you call Rangers fans "delusional"? Smith's physical and defensive game helped greatly in winning them the series against Montreal. It was not his fault for the series loss to Ottawa, which they had in their bags in 5 games, instead of losing it in six. Who would have been their physical force on the back line entering this season, if they didn't re-sign him??? After being acquired on Feb. 28th, his aggressive and steady play through the postseason were why they were forced to pay him $4.35M for 4 seasons as a UFA.
Furthermore, how could "we had waited to see if we could sign Shatty" so "we pass on Smith"??? Free agents could not be signed until July 1st by all teams, except for the expansion, Golden Knights, who were allowed to a few days ahead. So they could have signed him even prior to July 1st, or so could had another team that would have come in with a better offer, prior to the Rangers finally did. Even further, you just commented earlier in this blog, saying in key words that you "know they will regret the Shatty contract". So who is it that you wanted here among Smith or Shatty, prior to you calling Rangers fans "delusional". Maybe you should look at yourself in a mirror before saying that!

So does Zucc

I gave some real peanut butter to a guy at work that eats Jif.
He said it tasted like peanuts. What else is it supposed to taste like? Canola oil and sugar?

Kris Russell just scored the game winning goal at Edmonton for Toronto on a turn around shot, (a la that same style shot used at times by longtime retired Rangers d'man, Ron Greschner of the 70's to 80's). The goal came with only 1:05 remaining to break the 4-4 tie, leading to Toronto's 6-4 win, including the last second empty netter which followed.
Is that confusing here?
Russell scored that clean turn around shot goal from the circle, however & obviously, on his own regular backup goalie in Laurent Broissoit, after Broissoit yielded a long rebound off his initial save, with Kadri right alongside Russell, on this "must see" low light for him.
It was not quite as bad a result for Edmonton like when Steve Smith did so in 1986 to lose a seriesto Calgary, when he tried passing the puck up ice from behind his goal line from the left side of the Oilers net, and the puck hit off the rear of Grant Fuhr's leg in the goal crease and went in the Oilers net, giving the Flames that series clinching game win.

I remember Leetch dragging the puck behind the net, in an innocuous play, when it slipped off his stick and trickled in.
