Doubt it. Probably didn't felt off before warmups, then knew he couldn't play. Probably got progressively worse after the hit.
- Fenrir

Can also be confused with other possible ailments (sinus infection, cold, flu etc.)

For all we know he had a headache before the Detroit game, took some advil, and then when it came back, did not think it was from the hit.

I have to think once they thought it was a concussion they wasted no time getting him into protocol.

Seems like the more likely scenario

If it were the latter, the Rangers would probably be in some minor trouble for blatantly violating the rules of the concussion protocol. Probably nothing more than a slap on the wrist, if anything, assuming that they did so willfully.

Very tough to prove unless Zib would actually say " I told them I had symptoms and they told me to play."

McDonagh, on how he’s feeling: “It’s come a long way here in the last few days. I felt really good. Not really thinking about it anymore, which is a good sign.”

- jimbro83

sounds like he's been struggling with this for a while. Not surprised...

Here is the play: Helm leaves feet to make contact and well after puck was moved, why should either be considered a problem. Zib took a few extra beats to get back up

To be clear, I'm not accusing the Rangers of this is any way.

But, it doesn't have to be a blatant cover-up/disregard. They could have not pulled him from the game after the hit, which would still be guilty of violating the concussion protocol.

Long story short...was big into rock climbing and mountaineering when I was in college. Shasta, Rainier, Whitney but never was able to get up to McKinley before taking a wife and having kids.

#NYR HC Alain Vigneault said Mika Zibanejad's concussion stems from hit by Helm in corner during 11/24 DET game. Zibanejad initially felt fine and was cleared by docs, felt fine after optional skate and next game, had symptoms when he came in for Tuesday 11/28 morning skate.

I'm sure you already saw this. But no chance the Rangers would have let him play if he had made the symptoms known right after the hit.

From the link Jan posted, that Twitter user also posted the concussion protocol. #5 would be the pertinent bullet point, in this case. In which case, the Rangers would be in the clear because if the player is "only" slow to get up and/or clutches their head...it's not mandatory to pull them for further evaluation.

Cam Talbot is our at least two weeks. Todd McLellan adds: “It could be longer.”

Shayna is very good, worth a follow if not already doing so. She and I had an extensive DM conversation on Holden's place in lineup and pair deployment.
