Lucic & Dustin Brown immediately come to mind

MANY good teams have “power forwards”

I don’t see how that type of player keeps u from being a good team

- jdfitz77

Who are now two of the worst contracts in hockey.

Thanks for helping us make our point

Lucic's cap hit was 4 mil the year they won

Kane wants that contract I'll buy his jersey

Anyone who has any semblance of skill will score with Jack Eichel.

That list is 100 deep.

- sbroads24

Lol...
so then we don’t need to put good players with him?

Just play Girgensons & Larsson with him & we will win a Cup?
Yeah... I’m exaggerating

But name some specific players
Vanek? Stafford? Pouliot?
Those are the types of guys u can bring in

ALL are a SIGNIFICANT step down from Kane

We could do that AND keep Kane too
Doesn’t have to be one or the other

Niether is Lucic. Who as a big, forechecking, phyical player like Kane....started to wear down at a young age.

that's what you're describing in kane no? I agree it doesn't preclude them from winning, it's also not such a necessity that moving on from him would cripple this teams ability to score.

We had 0 controlled zone exits from the d-men in the first period. zero. A competent blueline will go a long ways to to help this team score more.

- Sabresfan-365

Again...
we can have a competent blue line AND Kane

Then argue u think Kane will break down & not the other nonsense

U could be right there
It’s a concern, I’ll admit that

but in my opinion (and that's all it is) Kane won't be worth his contract. so we'd have a competent blueline and a bad contract. which may be an issue if we want to turn competent into great.

My argument isn’t that Kane is bad. He isn’t. He’s obviously a good player.

In fact, I’d rather keep him than Ryan O’Reilly at this point because I’m becoming convinced O’Reilly is superbly over rated.

But I don’t think it’s that hard to replace a guy that will ride shotgun with Jack Eichel

Marchand signed for 5mil per that summer
That’s pretty close to what Lucic & Brown we’re making, right?

Kane could anchor the second line though if breaking a kid like asplund in as center

High end contracts rarely are
Eichel won’t produce worth 10mil per
But he’s a good player & we wanted to keep him

1st line centres are usually worth the massive payment. they make players around them better too

goal scoring wingers are rarely worth what they sign for, especially in the latter half of their deal.
