You just don't really understand hockey do you?
Chia traded an underachieving overpaid winger for an elite LHD.
He got rid of a Russian cancer.
He traded another overpaid 50/60 point 1st line winger for a young elite shutdown 3rd line winger who opens up cap space.
He signed an elite stay at home shot blocking machine to help the back end.
He's told Todd (the real reason the team is losing, don't trust a Todd) too tank for the best defencemen to come around in decades.
Next year the team will be beast mode, perhaps the year after when he's seasoned a little more.
Have faith in the plan, 2020 will be the year.... if he doesn't trade McDavid for Marchand.

Not sure how they won- totally expected them to walk away with a L... Strome tho is far from the Oilers problems... They have so many issues with roster and coaching-Letestu on the 1st pp- has me completely baffled... same goes for Lucic on the top line... |

Helm for Russell. Both are 30, good in limited capacities, have the same length on their contracts that are too long and pay them about 1.5 million too much and are both being forced out of the line-up by better options. Helps both teams in an area of need (speed and defending).
Come on! Do it! - MaximumBone
Orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.......... we can get even more creative and do a three-way trade between Carolina, Edmonton, and Detroit.
Carolina gets Pulj, Strome, "Mr. Rasputen," Kronwall, and Tatar
Edmonton gets Faulk, Rask, Helm, Nyquist, and Lindholm
Detroit gets RNH, Russel, Edmonton's 2017 1st, and Benson
Now that would be a blockbuster trade and a fair one in terms of what each team would want. Carolina gets some serious offensive blue chip prospects and a fantastic RW. Edmonton gets a great Top 4 RHD from a team stacked on defense and some serious top 6 RW depth. Detroit gets some well-needed cap relief a great 2C that would form a great tandem with Larkin down the road. Everybody winsssssssssss! Hurraaaaaaayyyyyyyy
As for Edmonton:
Maroon-McD-Lindholm
Lucic-LD-Nyquist
Helm-Rask-Jewels
Khaira-Letetsu-Kassian
Klefbom-Larsson
Sekera-Faulk
Nurse-Bennings
Edit: This was typed and thought of in 2 minutes. Don't be too harsh!! |

Iggy for probably just showing up in the Toronto forums.
Ghost of RC though.......................... too much cock sucking I guess? |

Without you taking DDK, we are stuck in another log jam on defense that’s had us sell off Smith, Sproul, and lose Marchenko to waivers. Take DDK. - RafiDRW
And with DDK, we'd be paying a replacement level NHLer 5mil to play on our 3rd pairing, so suck a fat one |

Stocked cupboards are a sweet option to have... Although it works both positive and negatively- positive in that you have assets and potential- negative- when continue losing and forced to sell them low... which seems like an Oiler thing... We had assets but they were not able to win- so they were sold low...

You legit think Khaira can fill in for Maroon? Not saying you’re wrong, but I have a hard time picturing it.
Perhaps Slepyshev could also be an option? - Wildschwein
Depends on what you mean by fill in. Do I think he would completely replace his offense? No. Do I think he can make and take a pass and produce around 30 points with Connor? Yes. He skates well, is defensively concious, is a good forechecker and has some muscle. He's superior to Maroon in all those areas and these are things I believe Connor's line needs more of.
I'd rather have Khaira with him at 1-2mil than Maroon at 4-5mil. |

I'm gonna say this because I care: holy (frank) that was dumb. I actually got out of bed to sit down at my computer so I could type a response explaining why it's so dumb. That'll come after this. |

Alright so let's break this down:
Carolina gives up Rask, Lindholm and Faulk
Edmonton gives up RNH, Puljujarvi, Strome, Russell, 2018 1st and Benson
Detroit gives up Nyquist, Tatar, Helm and Kronwall
Is Rasputen supposed to be Michael Rasmussen?
Without even looking at the respective deals themselves, it's quite apparent how unbalanced that is. Detroit loses two top-6 roster wingers and two cap dumps; Edmonton gives up a top-6 C, a 3C, two good-to-great winger prospects a first and one cap dump; Carolina loses two key roster players and one guy having a tough start. See the huge imbalance?
So, what need does each team fill in your scenario?
Edmonton gets an upgrade on D (Faulk), a crazy upgrade at forward (Lindholm, Nyquist and Rask), an upgrade to team speed (Helm) and COMPLETELY cap (frank)ed (adding probably +20mil by this time next year while only dropping 12.5mil).
Carolina gets MORE talented wingers (Tatar and Puljujarvi), a 3C, less cap flexibility (Kronwall), a good C prospect (assuming you meant Rasmussen) and doesn't fix their major area of need (offensively skilled 1C).
Detroit gets free of a huge cap burden (Nyquist, Tatar, Kronwall and Helm), a 1bC (Nuge), a cap dump (Russell), a good winger prospect and a 1st and cripples their team from competing at all this year (likely not great for the optics in their new arena).
Now that I've laid it out, is my reaction making sense? |

I have to agree with Rishaug here... When I heard that comment, I found it rather odd for him to say it directly to the media. |
