Alright, Chiarelli is definitely a problem but in a league where the Golden Knights have had two 5 game winning streaks in less then 25 games, are we seriously gonna sit here and say that McLellan and his staff shouldn't be able to get a good deal more out of this roster? |

That was a snipe. From that position unchecked it should have been.

I'd say most of us know that McLellan has done a sh1tty job so far this season. |

The Hall Larsson trade can be debated all you want. But Chirelli clearly lost that trade. |

I would love Nuge but the Devils aren't exactly lacking at center and Chi may never trade with Shero again after the bad rap he got for basically giving away another star forward, no offense to Larsson.
That said I think the Oilers would only be exasperating their problems by trading the one guy producing without Mcdavid's help. |

This is definitely not all on Chia. The players are underperforming as well. The coaching maybe too.
This is not a bottom 5 team. |

It's the perfect storm of everything that could go wrong did go wrong. Chiarelli didn't capitalize on the success of last season and failed to add to what he had. We didn't need to add high end players just depth. |

He fundamentally misunderstood where the league was going and which players would help his team succeed. As bad as his season was, Pouliot is a good player and a strong skater and likely wasn't the wisest buyout unless he still has plans for the short term cap space. Same goes for Pitlick; begrudge his durability all you want but he's a perfect bottom-6 player for today's NHL (injuries notwithstanding).
Those are pretty minor mistakes when viewed in isolation, but when seen with the whole speak to a lack of awareness and adaptability. In fairness, I wasn't wholly opposed to the moves but at least my plan included adding speed (W Karlsson, Haula, Grabner/Fast, Athanasiou, etc). |

Maybe he gave Nurse's sister a promise ring after he showed her why they call him the "Deutschland Dangler". |

And I only mentioned them as far back as the TDD Look at them now:
Karlsson: 13G, 9A in 22 games
Haula: 7G, 6A in 18 games
Grabner: 10G, 2A in 24 games
Fast: 4G, 7A in 19 games
Athanasiou: 5G, 3A in 14 games
Note that I'm not saying they'd have done as well here, but this shows that the right depth players can produce in the right situation.
Obviously there's no way to guarantee they'd have been available or what they'd cost but I doubt a team like Vegas would've turned down a deal to bring in Nuge with what their C depth was looking like. In the right deal, maybe we could've gotten Karlsson and one of their 1sts.
Imagine having drafted one of Suzuki or Brannstrom AND Yamamoto And all it took for Athanasiou was an offer sheet that gave him what he wanted in September. Young, fast and skilled depth through the forward and prospect ranks. |
