Sure you listen to offers. I'd be listening to offers for every player on the roster I dont care who it is. I love Provy but if someone wants to blow my doors off, I'm game. I'm not a believer in untouchables, thats just insane too me |

Agree with most off this but there are 2 or 3 players ..at least in my mind that I would consider "untouchable" Mcdavid,Mathews, laine
Sure any gm can throw out an offer for one of these guys but seriously, who would you take in exchange for one of those players...? |

A 1st and Strome for Simmonds AND YOU'RE GONNA LIKE IT PHILLY, whether you want to or not! - EdmHockeyMan
The way Flyers and Oilers are playing I will take that, will end up being two 1st round picks in the top 5 likely |

That pick will probably end up being a 10-15 round pick (I personally think it's too late for the Oilers to turn the ship around and get back on track for the playoffs (hope they prove me wrong); the damage has been done; regardless, I'm still all in for upgrading our RW options). The Oiler's are in a major slump, but I'm sure they'll probably get out of it sooner than later, not to mention one of their best defenders are coming back in about a week or so (Sekera), so that should definitely help as well.
Nonetheless, Simmonds is 29 and is going to be looking for a new contract somewhere above 6m+ at the very least. Had we been talking about the 26-27 year old Simmonds, I'd immediately say hell yeah and rip you guys off. Absolute beast. Had a great contract as well. But now? Still an awesome player, but at the cost of a potentially high 1st round pick and a 24 year Ryan Strome (who is having a decent season so far honestly (10 points in 23 games), especially when you consider the circumstances... this doesn't mean he is worth Ebs at all though), I would be hesitant to say yes. It's not that bad of a deal, but we are sacrificing some solid youth options for a vet. Simmonds still has 3-4 strong years in him before he declines, so I personally would probably say yes, don't know about other Oiler fans though.
Had we been talking about a deal involving Ebs for Simmonds prior to the Ebs deal, I'd be all in for that even if we had to give a little extra. Both are similar in age (Ebs is 27-28 I believe and Simmonds is 29) and I am a big fan of Simmonds better overall style of play. |

Strome is garbage. Call Bergy. - gergeswillems
Strome for Drouin maybe????
Seriously though, Strome isn't that bad of a player, in fact I'd consider him a great top 9 option. Is he worth Ebs? Fuccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccckkkkkk no!
But does 1st/Strome for Simmonds sound realistic? About as close as it could be considering the conditions (Simmonds age and contract) and what we have now. Prior to the offseason, I would have loved a deal involving Ebs and Simmonds to occur if we were planning on trading Ebs and possibly upgrading our RW options (Simmonds > Ebs IMO: both are around the same age too). But is risking long-term youth (5-10 years) vs short term gain (3-4 years) worth it? Hard to say and it will all come down to opinions in the end, but I am in favour of yay. |

It's a recurring joke here in Leafs Nation, going back 30 years.
Although I wouldn't mind him as a Leaf - he always performs well in Toronto. - Atomic Wedgie

It's the Leafs, not the Leaves (frank)tard.
Recurring is the right word here, not reoccurring. Recurring is something that tends to happen repeatedly at regular intervals, reoccurring is something that may happen repeatedly at odd, irregular, and unpredictable times.

Hey, slow your ponies Ponce. No harm intended. But I am glad you took the time to both read and respond.
Must have hit a nerve, Huh? Don't worry, that happens.
The plural of "Leaf" is not Leafs. "Leafs" is simply not a word.

Maybe I can help you a little .... to recur is to happen every single blessed time. Do you really believe this? If so... I am afraid you really are one of those "Centre of the Universe" fans who only know a singular perspective. The implication is "all else is lesser."
Is that what you are saying/admitting?
Or are you saying it reoccurs which means every now and then over a period of time but not all the time... I strongly hope this is what the original poster meant as in doing so, it is a fun joke. Otherwise Ponce, it's a little alienating and aloof in your self-perceived superiority.
Good luck to you.

He should trade him for a injury prone 3rd line centre and a couple of late 1st rd picks. Oh he already did that with Schenn |

Don't forget that Hextall isn't the only decision maker. He is a UFA, Simmonds also has a vote. Hextall doesn't just get to decide to re-sign him. |
