1st 2 are only untouchables.
don't see leafs trading away the other 7 either, but less 'untouchable'.
i would say liljegren and woll, dermott would be in same category as the 7.
that group of 12 players is core going forward - MaximusAurelius
Don't kid yourself, the only untouchable is Matthews. |

It's going to sound like I'm being a homer, because I am, but I think at this point I like what Matthews is doing offensively AND defensively so I would rather keep him. For the Leafs as a team, I think Matthews brings more of what they need and have needed for a long time; a dominant two-way center. |

No.
And I'm not suggesting Matthews is "better" than McD -- just that the trade likely only marginally improves the Leafs offence and any benefits there likely might be felt negatively on the defensive side of the puck (e.g. Matthews is a superior 200ft player).
Look, even Gretzky was traded so there is truly no such thing as completely "untouchable" but the probabilities are next to zero that Matthews would ever be traded for anything less than a massive robbery of sorts. |

The lose a lot of games in extra time - david22
A loss is still a loss to me.
At the end of the day 8 wins at this point is horrible. The extra point is the only thing keeping the Sens out of the basement with the Sabres and the Oilers |

You're forgetting something. Without Matthews, we don't have enough to pry Tanev out of Vancouver. Unless maybe we do a 4 way? Leafs get Tanev, Vancouver gets Matthews, Oilers get Laine and WPG gets McDavid.
This GMing stuff is easy.
Just kidding. I totally realized these are just two separate trades. |

Man, thank god Doronion isn't the Leafs' GM.
And even better, he's the Sens' GM.

Sens have 3 games in hand.
They are winning at roughly the same pace as Toronto (a teeny bit lower - not much). - Atomic Wedgie
The Sens have played significantly worse since trading Turris. Duchene has one and a half years of control and has not even come close to resembling what he was coming out of junior. Don't know the reason nor do I want to speculate, it appears Sens were third best in the deal. Give them a bronze medal. They lost some assets, don't pick until the fourth round in the draft this year.

That's also pts percentage. TECHNICALLY, Sens are 8-12 to the Leafs' 14-9. |

6 games. Duchene has a few more to show he can be what he was in his rookie season. |

i don't disagree with your comment, but i'm pretty sure the 3rd round pick is 2019 not 2018 |

The only thing that matters is points earned. Yes, wins matter in a tie-breaker, but that's something to think about in April, not November. |
