I don't think Pietrangelo is just in the conversation, he's the odds on favourite. The only other guy playing even remotely close to as good as him is Doughty.

I would agree with that. I would also add that probably about 15 teams in the NHL have a true number one. Rielly needs a couple of solid seasons of production, with the talent now on the team to prove he belongs with that group.

Big trades are really hard to make, many variables. Would love to get OEL on this team. Arizona will be trading him for sure, probably this year. He will be a UFA after the next season. He will be looking for big money. Is he worth trading Nylander for, I'm not convinced. Nylander has at least 6 years of control left, and Liljegren will be in the NHL soon enough. Leafs might be better off to add a top offensive player and a solid defensive d-man whose cost is not as high.

For sure. I know likelyhood of it happening is very low.
My main point simply is, I'm ok with moving anyone not named Matthews if it makes the overall team better and makes our odds of winning a cup higher.

Only switch I would make if Martin goes instead of leivo. Put Martin with marner and Matthews. Put hyman with brown and marleau.

Matthews and marner can hold their own with Martin, but the marleau line looked weak last night with Martin there instead of hyman.

i dont get really hung up on the lines and what number we call them, the ice time is not that much different between them. plus they never stay the same
