I get the Hall trade. It was a trade of necessity for the position of weakness to be rectified. Not a good trade player against player but I understand why it was done.

But why in the (frank) do you trade away your second highest scoring winger after the one you just traded was your first highest? That’s a hundred points a season you needed to replace from 2 wingers that converted into 40ish points from a bottom six center and a defensive dman.

Edit: reply to your edit. Leon had a great season, but so did Jonathon Cheechoo riding Thornton’s Richard all season in 06. You need to play hardball and get that 2 year bridge deal at 4.5-5 per. Then give him a 9 mil for 8 years if he keeps hitting 60-80 points.
