Colombus is fast and big. Kept Calgary to the outside all night. Lots of bad turnovers.
Didn't feel like the second or 3rd line got many looks tonight. Lots of fancy passing when they should have just shot and crashed the net.
But, we got a point against a tough team in a game that had should not have gone to OT. - DuranDuran

Have to say the 3rd line looks better with Bennett. - tincup
Agreed. Versteeg is just too slow.

Back to back games coming up. Have to believe Lack gets another start....could be his last if he doesn't show better. |

He won’t play. Unless Smith gets hurt or is really bad. |

It's also 3 in 4 nights and tonight was 40 shots. Have to believe BT is trying to find a goalie so Smith doesn't have to go it on his own. |

Bennett to the 4th line is a head scratcher...I thought moving him to wing helped him and he's looked better in recent games. Hate to see GG lose faith in him, if that's what's happening. |

Trade Brodie now!! The stupid fck has been brutal!! And everyone blames Hamonic - Clyde334
Wow I know the guy has gone through a rough stint. But come on, we know the type of player he can be.
Another note Kulak and Stone give us a really solid 3rd pairing, very pleased with the way they're playing! |

Hopefully a wake up call! Player management, not sure I agree though. |

How many 1st round picks are you including along with Hamonic? - Hunkulese
(frank) am I glad our GM isn't as dense as you Toronto offered JVR + a 1st for Hamonic at the draft and New York turned them down.
Toronto is the one dealing from a position of weakness. Marner or Nylander would most likely be the cost of doing business for a top 4 dman. There might have to be some minor tinkering here or there- but they would most likely be BT's primary targets. |

The Leafs are trying to get value for JVR because they probably won't be resigning him. They're never going to trade Marner or Nylander for an average defenceman. They already have a bunch of them.
How exactly is Toronto dealing from a position of weakness? Their need for a defenceman is lower than the Flames need for a scoring winger. |

Maybe Bennett to the 4th was an attempt to try and get some sort of speed on the 4th line and a little more playmaking on the 3rd.
Anyways, Steeger seems to have lost a step. Still makes some plays on the PP but not the player he was last year.
For a lot of the game on the defensive zone the Flames were not skating.
I think Lack still has some Leash as the team played horrible in Detroit. A lot of those goals were not on him. |

Well we don’t have a lot of options at the moment.
Wonder what the price of a capable backup is?

I can't see us making a move till TDL. Lack still gets a couple games, also have not tried out Rittich.
But damn you would hope that after last year they would learn their lesson and go into playoffs with someone they are confident with. |

Yeah, maybe the answer is in the organization. No doubt Parsons is too young but either Gillies or Rittich should be ready for an occasional game. Maybe one more shot for Lack and if that doesn't go well, waive him and bring up one of the Stockton guys. |

I think if they call Rittich up they better be willing to possible lose him because he has to go through waivers if I am not mistaken. If it was based on record Rittich should have gotten the call up.
I guess if they call him up they better be willing to fully evaluate him for the future or they risk losing the guy through waivers. |

Why was Versteeg on the ice during OT? Tkachuk has played well the OT time he has been given and GG decides to ice Versteeg. What an idiot |

Maybe looking at trading him? Might explain why he was on the 3rd line.
But in the end OT was all on Brodie.
From what I can tell the problem with the pairing of Brodie and Hamonic is that Harmonic gives way too much space in the neutral zone allowing for an easy zone entry and Brodie is making poor plays when pressured.

Not going to get much for Versteeg, so I doubt that was why. GG can be incredibly stubborn & boneheaded. Chucky has lots of creativity in the game.
WTF was Brodie doing??? Maybe we should be trading him, must be tough for Hamonic trying to play with Brodie who races up, makes a bad play & Hamonic is trying to cover. Brodie used to be able to get back quick & cover up miscues, now the miscues have been happening way too often & in the back of our net. We should move him while he still has lots of perceived value. We've got Kulak who has a similar game to Brodie & 3 other guys in the pipeline coming fast that play the puck carrying skating game. |

No, it's not. Toronto's defense sucks and they already know that they won't win in the playoffs with the guys they have back there. They've been trying to get a #1 dman for awhile but nobody is trading those away.
It has been well publicized that they are looking at #4 dmen. JVR & a 1st couldn't get it done at the draft, so if they really are serious about making a move Nylander or Marner would be the targets.
Either way, it doesn't make your original comment of having to add not 1 but multiple firsts to make a deal any less stupid |
