I kind of agree with you here. and I normally think that these types of "discounts" are bullpoop. But in this case, they stuck with him even when he was pretty much ineffective. This is probably going to be his biggest payday. I'd offer him 5 years at 5.25. That's a good raise and if he keeps up this production for another 3 years that will be a bargain.

I would also offer around this number and it would be a bargain if he keeps up the production. Barzal really helps the Cap by the Isles not needing to go out an add a 2C. They can hopefully focus on D and in goal.

Isles trade talk because if it's a trade for a top 4 dman I'm in?
- ses111

What's the point? They'd still have to do something with Seidenberg and hickey... As it is those two are playing when they arguably shouldn't if you added a defenseman at least one of the two would have to go the other way and I doubt anyone wants either of them even as a dump. To me it seems obvious Snow is giving these guys playing time here and there and keeping them for injuries. I have a hard time believing he would add to defense but who knows?

Both guys are not making a ton of money so teams will take them if they like the other players Isles are offering. I'm not expecting a deal for a top 4 dman, but Hickey or Seidenberg will not be the ones to prevent a deal.

Well Snow covets Hickey for whatever reason that much we know Seidenberg I think he would include in a trade maybe both? My point really wasn't whether he would trade either of them or not or whether it would hold up a trade it was more along the lines of we have a bit of a lot jam. Weight is rotating the bottom pairing weekly...

If you're talking trade with ARI for OEL, Pulock and Toews are the only players they would be interested in plus picks. If it is a Turris situation where OEL signs a contract first you may be such a move else this is the team for the playoff run and we may see Toews on the roster in the Spring. Projection is he will be an NHL d man.

I would only move Toews if OEL was signed. Toews is probably good enough to be with the Isles now. It's not happening though we all these dmen.

He's not that fast or skilled but he seems to create chances

I mean he’s no top pair guy but he can play in the league unlike what most thought

Snows got the picks, but i think it’s pretty safe to say he’s not getting OEL

Isles have the assets to make a move, but it does not seem to be Garth's style. Garth probably thinks he does not want to mess up the team playing well instead of giving it an even better chance to win and go further. I think someone like Trouba would be a better bet than OEL.

I do not agree with how Doug has handled the D and until last game, the d has not be shutting down that many teams. I think Pulock should be playing every game. Isles need to find out about Pulock and especially with de Haan's contract up this summer.

Don't see us getting oel has 2 years left will command big money and if jt resigns will we have the space woith the other guys on this team? Bailey 'Lee and barzal? New thing is long money early like eichal mcdavid so we may see him locked in early if play keeps up

I agree he has come the farthest the fastest. Nit fleet of foot but keeos uo plays angles and is big enough to stay between player and net lost of the time. Jeeos it simple in offensive zone and gets it on net

Hahaha trouba would be the top 4 d man we could use get him for beau and a pick if that's possible not sure what he would command here. We have a surplus at forward and a top 4 man is what this team need the most. With 86 and 53 hurt we will see more Prince and quine. Casey's injury is still unknown I believe haven't checked Twitter today
Edit Weight doesn't think Cizikas' injury is serious but it does appear he might miss some time. He estimated anywhere from three days to a week but he has to consult the docs first. #isles

This is why developing the young talent like Barzal, Ho Sang, Beau, Pulock is so important. Less need to go out and trade or sign someone.

Trouba would be a good dman to target. The good thing is Quine and Prince are not needed for a lot of offense.

That's how hawks were successful they had the 4 or 5 core guys then developed youth and traded off guys that were going to command more

It's what the Isles should have done as soon as they drafted JT. They could not get top FA's anyway so surround JT with young talent and sign a couple of good locker room vets. Top FA signings do not work out for the most part.

Isles couldn't develop their prospects was the problem they seem to be better at it now with 13 72 66 although just is still out on the last two along with pelach pulock aho and toews

Isles did not seem to want to bother. I'm not going to mention you know who and how he was handled. Isles should have gotten a junior coach that could relate to young talent instead of Cappy. They wasted a lot of time and resources with Cappy as coach.

Ah...they were kind of forced into doing so prematurely by missing the deadline for qualifying their RFAs...
