Mac going down will be a good indicator as to whether we should trade him before his contract is up, if we survive I say move him, would get back a ton

true, but Zucc is such an extreme case, he leads all forwards on this team in icetime, yet has only 38 shots on goal in 21 games

Vesey has averaged 5 minutes less per game than Zucc and has 42 shots

Trade him. Ankles, concussions, shoulders etc. Giving him a long term contract would be killer down the road.

When Kreider gets angry he plays more noticeably. He's been invisible lately.
- tomburton99

He's been mostly invisible since he "ran" Price, Holtby, Greiss, etc. I think this is getting into his head. Kreider hasn't been the power forward he shows glimpses of since those incidents.

I never thought Kreider would turn into the enigma he’s become. His main asset is his tremendous size and speed. He doesn’t posses great hands, so handling the puck and shooting in tight spaces are not his long suit, yet he managed to score 30. Somewhere Along the line, a coach or player is going to reach him, figure it out and make him the top power forward he should be.

this is gonna be like the scene from Jaws

but, in two separate surgeries I have about half of my large intestine remaining. The first operation was during the 1997 ECF vs the Flyers, went into hospital couple of days after Adam Graves overtime winner vs Devils

(same surgery David Backes just had)

two hernia operations, and gall bladder removal

and broken heart from Karen in West Islip

- jimbro83

I remember it very well with that Graves wrap around winner against Marty.
But despite all of your serious medical issues, Jim, at least you still have the strength to regularly battle in key "tomburton", (among another or two), with Tom's usual display yesterday here again making it appear that he is far from the Rangers fan he claims to be.
I see how his "tanking" theory is "his GM's solution" to building EVERY Cup winner. Just look at Edmonton for "thee #1 proof" that "tanking" for extended seasons only works if both EVERYTHING ELSE on the ice with EVERY PLAYER, plus off the ice with the coaching staff is at its best, along with some luck and staying injury free. There's a reason why the Oilers have dealt some of those top #1 picks early after all. But Tom fails to acknowledge that fact, other than claiming he knows somehow for a fact that a very few certain teams had "purposely tanked" for years in order to win it all.

But both also have a (+/-) rating of (-4) each through the first 21 games.

The team has a (-1) Goal Differential, with only 10 of 23 skaters at an "EVEN" or a (+) rating, due to the team's poor 2-6-2 start.

Of those who have played in a minimum of 7 games:
The two highest (+/-) rated players are a (+6) in Grabner, and McDonagh.
Next best are a (+3) in Fast, Holden, and Nieves.
The lowest rated are a (-6) in Kreider, Zibby, and Shatty.
Next lowest are a (-4) in Zucc, Vesey, and Kampfer.

I agree Jan in that McDonagh's earlier undisclosed abdominal strain injury played a great role as to his overall game, starting with his decision making to make certain plays. As a result, that left him at times a step behind, in preventing him from executing certain decisions to their best, despite being tied with Grabner at a (+6) for the team's best (+/-) rating through the first 21 games.
If he had symptoms of this injury back as far as mid October, maybe that explains in part for his lack of proper execution, on what turned into an horrendous looking decision with his giveaway in front of Hank in that home OT loss to the Penguins. Back then, McDonagh only blamed himself for that gaffe, without mentioning any hint of some type of injury symptom playing an effect on it.
But was it him convincing A.V. all along that he was able to play through this injury? Or was it more so A.V. sort of begging him to do so if McDonagh felt he could still contribute? That in contrast more recently, in having to replace him with a d'man called up from Hartford while he was benching Smith.

McDonagh - mild ab strain. Out Friday as well. To be evaluated Sunday. Since it's a 2pm start Sunday, will be interesting to see if he plays. Also, no word if upper or lower ab strain, as latter would impact skating more while former to shooting or passing.

At what point does the organization disclose that McDonagh's injury may be worse than what he and they thought it may arise to? Strains heal first properly with one main thing around known as rest. Maybe they should shut him down at a minimum for the entire upcoming 4 games home stand against Detroit, Vancouver, Florida, and Carolina. That, prior to the schedule beginning to become tougher with more games on the road, after they will have played 18 of their first 26 games at home through that re-match against Carolina on Dec. 1st.
