Blind passes. Passes through traffic (which are not passes, then, are they?). The passes that are right to a Flyer, who fumbles them away. The attempts to bull through carrying the puck the result in turnovers. (And let's face it, other than G, Ivan, and Jake, who is a puckhandler? Not Gost right now.)
There were an embarrassing number of situations last night when there were odd man rushes against. And no one who could close on the few odd man rushes we had. What ever happened to shooting the puck and hoping for a rebound for the trailer rather than wildly passing to the trailer and missing the mark?
It was the worst game from a watching perspective they've played at home this year. Just awful. - bodiva88
Ghost last night had me yo-yoing between good play Ghost followed seconds later with UGH Ghost you can't do that. It was horrid.
At least Martel and Morin were called up. Maybe now I can enjoy the Isles games. |

I will watch the game now. I was going to boycott a game or two. Now I have some new players to watch. Don't know anything about Martel so it should be fun. |

After tonight's game, we will finally be able to settle if it was the right move to pick Morin over Pulock. |

So, what fourth liner are we blaming today for last night's terrible effort? - johndewar
Apparently VDV, because he scored more points then Raffl already this time last year. |

This team has awful special teams right now.
19th on the PP (Hi Kris Knoblauch! Welcome to the NHL!) and 28th on the PK (Oh, Lappy.,..).
Improving in these two areas would likely make this team at least much more entertaining to watch. - johndewar
That would require goaltending that stopped more then just the expected shot.
I don't get how goaltending isnt being called out more on this board.
Its like a good QB in football. A good goalie covers up ALOT of mistakes and also provides a team confidence. This team's goalie tandem provides no confidence to anyone in that locker room.

and again...nothing is preventing Hakstol from double shifting someone to get that line back together if they need a goal or near the end of a power play - YuenglingJagr
In my view based on the recent span of games, they can only keep that line together if they're getting some production from secondary scoring. As we've seen in quite a few games if that line is shut down, the Flyers are done. Based on the way other players are playing now, they have 3 players who can push play and they're all on the same line. I understand those who want to keep it together because it's a great line but they need a player who can get another line going and the best choices for that are currently all playing together. |

There are plenty of NHL players that will score on a goalie if they are uncontested on the man advantage
(none of them play for the Flyers though ) |

Well Filppula just needs to get back to shooting 30% again and then we can all go back to pretending things are great |

Numerous examples. Patrick is just not ready yet and is building his game. Weal, for whatever reason is clearly not the same player he was last season. Simmonds is struggling. Konecny, bless his soul is trying his balls off with a lot of individual play but just can't finish. Filppula's offensive production dropped off.

No GM would call up players just to shake things up or figure, "Why not?" Both of them are clearly NHL-ready and we should expect to see them in the NHL for the majority of the season. |

I thought the team hung Neuvirth out to dry last night. No way did I think he got pulled on his merits (or lack thereof) last night.
Not that I'm happy with their goaltending situation, but that wasn't the problem last night, IMO. |

For me I know it's an issue one I would like to see improved BUT that would require a trade of some sort since prospects aren't ready. The offense defense gets scrutinized more readily because we have guys we believe could help in the ahl |

It wasn't the only problem, but he wasn't good, either. The 4th goal especially was horrible.
Both of our goalies seem to have extreme rebound problems. They'll make the initial stop, but the puck just seems to drop right in front of them or kick our 4 feet into the slot. |
