I agree its not a slam dunk. I hope for a Giroux/Gagne (not type of player just talent wise) and if that happens the trade is worth it to me but of course there are no guarantees and both could flame out.
what i find funny is Schenn's name was included in every trade proposal out there last year and now because he is having success with Tarasenko people are crying over it. we shall see
who has been the worse team? - nastyflyergirl
Haven't the Flyers been the worst team in the NHL for the last month or so. They've lost 10 of their last 13 games. Has someone been worse than that?

How long should I cook a turkey in the microwave? It’s frozen, 18 lbs - Streit2ThePoint Put a fork inside the cavity and it cooks a lot faster as well as your house.

Schenn just became good...it has nothing to do with who he is playing with
Same with Coots actually...finally just started scoring this year, but I have no idea why. |

Maybe that's what Hextall has in mind but I have to see what the lineup is. I don't think Morin replacing Alt or Martel in for Weise or Lehtera is a big wake up call. I think it's much easier for a young player to come up and play on a team that is playing good cohesive team hockey then it is for a player to come up to this situation right now. Have to be careful with that. - MJL
Sure, and it's easier for a new coach to take over a winning team but it doesn't always work out that way. You've got to deal with the reality and not what you think should be happening. I can't explain the recent play myself. They looked and played and got results like a competitive team last month. Even when they started struggling, they didn't roll over, but the last two games, they pretty much rolled over and let so-so teams beat them at home. I give Hextall credit for pushing not one but two buttons here. It was necessary. Let's hope they come out with some jump tonight as the Fishsticks are pretty good at home. |

I hope it has that effect. I don't see just taking action as the right action. I would have reservations about bringing up a player in this situation but I don't know the player. Hextall does. Lets hope it works out. - MJL
So inaction is the correct action?

Can we call up a coach and put Hak in the Cote suite for a couple games?
On another front, I'm hoping Morin makes it hard for them to put Gudas back in the lineup. |

It hurts my soul to write this but they desperately need Amac. This D corps is way too green. AHL defense with backup goaltending is not a good combo. They need to break up the first line, fire Lappy and wait for Simmonds to return to his former self. I'm not hopeful about Martel, we have enough small guys out there.

Yes, and they were one of the better teams before everyone started getting injured, better than I expected them to be at least. Yes, we miss Schenns offense, but I'm happy with the 2 lottery tickets we got for him. What's your point, you miserable (frank)? |

I like how people say this as if his success has everything to do with Tarasenko and as if to take a shot at or discredit what Schenn is doing.
The simple fact is he is lighting it up in St.L and he never could do that here.
Why is this not signaling people to look closer at Hak and how his teams can't score yet a player that was a "PP specialist" is lighting it up once he gets away from Hak?

You can’t. Let it thaw....go to your nearest Walmart and by a deep fryer and oil....3 minutes per pound + 5 minutes...59 minutes....perfect....this method will save you a trip to emerg.

Schenn was a player who put multiple 25 goal, 50+ point seasons playing for the Flyers under Hakstol. This isn't about a coach this is about a talented skilled player who is off to a great start and has found chemistry with two other skilled players on a line. |

Tarasenko was split off that line for a while as well. His only consistent partner was schwarz. Are we saying Schwarz is other worldly better than the guys we have here ?

Weal only signed with Flyers after meeting with Canucks and then found out they chose to sign Gagner as UFA. So yeah sloppy seconds on choice on that move and now you know why... he can't do much anyway. |

He's otherworldly better than Raffl, Lehtera, Weise, Leier, Laughton and so on. If they hadn't made that trade and Schenn was on this team, the Flyers would be close to the top of the conference. The Flyers just have not had enough legit NHL forwards the last several seasons and they gave away Schenn (as far as this year's roster is concerned) and opened a bigger hole in an area of weakness. |

Good for Schenn having a great start to this season.
He wasn't going to do what he is doing in St. Louis here. I don't believe he made players around him better. Seemed to me like Coots was the only one he found a consistency with, I don't know what the stats actually show, just seems that way to me.
If he was that good he would have made himself an untouchable. He had plenty of time here and he didn't do that. I really don't think this team is much better with him here this year. I don't miss him. |

That's a stretch in my opinion. Schenn is a good player but he's not that good with the way this team has been playing. Schenn has also had stretches of games as a Flyer where he was not effective.

The thing about slumps is you want to avoid falling into them. While I agree Schenn is not at the level where he could strap a team on his back and carry them for a while, he's a very good NHLer. He'd be a significant upgrade over any forward they have not currently playing on the top line. I think with him, they wouldn't have fallen as far as they have so him not being able to get them out of it singlehanded is not an issue. What's done is done for this year but they need another top 9 forward. I think they can turn this around regardless. |
