What about being the worst team in the NHL over the last month? Are you going to address that? Lehtera has a high cap hit for a guy that is an empty uniform. Collecting guys like Lehtera, Wiese, Raffl, Read isn't conducive to success. - PLindbergh31
Collecting is a silly word in that case..
How many years have Read and Raffl been on the team?
When a replacement for them is there they wont be on the team.
It was the right action because it was action. Hextall had to do something after last night, it was that bad and followed the sloppy home effort Saturday. I would have let things ride through the week if they were actually competitive last night but they weren't. Two new guys in the lineup, which I expect to see tonight, sends the essential motivational message that should get through to everybody. Jobs are at stake and some guys may have lost their's in this recent slump. - fls13
I hope it has that effect. I don't see just taking action as the right action. I would have reservations about bringing up a player in this situation but I don't know the player. Hextall does. Lets hope it works out.

Raffl is still a good player asset in my opinion. Read is a UFA after this year. In the big picture, none of those two plus Lehtera and Weise are going to hurt the Flyers future.

I dont disagree with you there I just disagree with how Plind worded it.
Collecting makes it sound to me like they are recent acquisitions.

The end of the first round with both picks, coupled with a two year cap anchor of Lehtera isn't a slam dunk. I know the Flyers have had good success in the late first round, but who knows what the players drafted will provide. More likely neither becomes an every day NHL player than one of them becoming a 50 point per year guy.
Like I said in an earlier post, they've been the worst team in the NHL over the last 4+ weeks. Rebuild or not, that is unacceptable. - PLindbergh31
I agree its not a slam dunk. I hope for a Giroux/Gagne (not type of player just talent wise) and if that happens the trade is worth it to me but of course there are no guarantees and both could flame out.
what i find funny is Schenn's name was included in every trade proposal out there last year and now because he is having success with Tarasenko people are crying over it. we shall see

On the bright side, I just got home from work, I'm off tomorrow and Friday (going to the game Friday, really hoping to see Morin & Martel) and I just poured some 15 year old Glenfiddich
Cheers! - BiggE
Enjoy, I'll be up with the crazies on Friday. When I put in my day off request I said I had tickets for a Flyers game and he thought it was the normal early matinee. I said "nope, it's a 4PM game." He asked if I would think about a half day I said "Nope Tailgaiting"
I hope it has that effect. I don't see just taking action as the right action. I would have reservations about bringing up a player in this situation but I don't know the player. Hextall does. Lets hope it works out. - MJL
I think both Martel and Morin are third year pros and they should be jacked. Hopefully, their excitement gets the team going. Guys are never called up into perfect situations. The team is struggling with one thing or another, even if it's injuries alone. But these moves are designed to have an effect on the entire team not just Martel and Morin and whoever they are swapped in for. The team needed a wake up call and there is some dead wood that will need to be moved along. I hope it works. If it doesn't, the next moves are trade and then new coach and I don't want to see that . . . unless there's no other choice.

who has been the worse team? - nastyflyergirl
This board was filled with posts of how Schenn is overrated, can't produce at ES, isn't a core player, disappears for long stretches. His offense will be easily replaced. Now the team screwed up trading him! It's not about if any of that is right or wrong, I'm still fine with the trade but I knew that Schenn would be missed. Don't know what you've got until it's gone.

Maybe that's what Hextall has in mind but I have to see what the lineup is. I don't think Morin replacing Alt or Martel in for Weise or Lehtera is a big wake up call. I think it's much easier for a young player to come up and play on a team that is playing good cohesive team hockey then it is for a player to come up to this situation right now. Have to be careful with that.

I've only seen maybe 4 people say that the trade was a mistake.

I was one of Schenn's defenders until late last year, when I tired of his inability to make himself useful at 5v5, and so when the trade happened I was shocked but pleased. I'm still pleased by the trade. I'm annoyed that he's found that consistency that was lacking here, but I'm glad for him because quite frankly, I found him to be a very likeable player.
Honestly, I don't believe had he stayed that he'd be putting up the numbers here that he is putting up in St. Louis (but maybe he would have), I think he'd be in the same rut he was last year. I'm not sure how much of his scoring surge/improved play is simply a change in scenery, how much was a proverbial "wake up call", how much is due to his new teammates, and how much can be attributed to the maturation process. But just as Couturier is putting up numbers that he has never put up before, so too is Schenn and doing it in a very loud and noticeable way on a team that is at the top of its conference.

I knew that the idea that Schenn couldn't be an effective player at 5 on 5 was a false narrative. The Flyers as a team weren't a good team at 5 on 5 and every player was affected by that and partly responsible for it. I agree that he wouldn't be putting up the same numbers here but it goes to show what a skilled player can do when he finds chemistry with the right linemates. Other than Couturier he just didn't seem comfortable. Schenn was a good player that they miss but I don't see keeping him elevating the team to be more than a bubble team. A good trade is one that both teams benefit from and I'm glad that Schenn is finding success.

How long should I cook a turkey in the microwave? It’s frozen, 18 lbs - Streit2ThePoint
Drop the frozen turkey into your turkey fryer without defrosting it making sure that there is maximum oil in the fryer and it's as hot as the fryer will go.
