The Devils.

Could happen, they have played well above their heads, but you have to figure given the prospect pool and cap space Shero will be aggressive in trying to add some help on defense.

Sam Reinhart was never a can't miss guy. Good try though.

They are right now. They finally got JT some talent to work with. Rome wasn't built in a day. Rebuild take time. The islanders need to get JT signed though, YUGE caveat

They've made some monster mistakes in trying to bolster their team, but yeah, the Isles are better than NYR right now.

Yeah I'm only half serious. We have no idea what injuries can befall a team(s) changing the landscape for everyone else as well as themselves. Same goes with any acquisitions. Once we get through January the picture might be more clear.

The Rangers have one ECF championship that separates them from the Islanders. Which is meaningless. Nobody outside the fan-base will revere that team. No matter how fun it was to experience that run(The best I've seen) at that time.

Since 2005 the Rangers missed the playoffs once.

Since 2005 the Isles missed the playoffs 8 times.

Yes they are exactly the same.... ugh

No they aren't the same. The Islanders GM and pro scout team has been bad for a long time. Probably should get them fired. But now they have a guys like Eberle, Nelson, Lee, Boychuk, Barzal, Leddy with a top tier player like Tavares. The Islanders question will goal tending and depth.

But for most of those year the Rangers were a survive and advance type of team, which just strings along the narrative of false hope.

If the Rags wave the white flag, a 1st for Nash and a good package of picks/ prospects for McDonagh will help, but doing a proper rebuild with Hank in net will be difficult.

I mean the jist of the blog is the Rangers future moving forward. Should probably read the blog and then form an opinion.

Barzal isn't top tier yet. I'm not saying he isn't good, I just need to see him do this more than once.

I think, if they did do that, that it wouldn't be all that inappropriate to clue him in to the plans and ask him if he would be interested in exploring a trade to a contender. Not necessarily asking him if he'd waive because they want to trade him, but telling him they are going to have a bit of a tear-down and see if he would like to go elsewhere to take one last stab at a Cup.

Pretty much impossible. But the cap will hopefully continue to go up and maybe they could work some magic with some less expensive pieces.

I do not want to go down that road right now. I am not sure what this team is capable of especially if a good piece or two is added. Like mentioned, you never know when an injury could create an opening... or ruin the season.
