Sure would be better to start a rebuild with PK + Sergachev over Weber + Drouin.... |

They have McDavid though. |

This.
Anyone thinking Sergachev would have the same kind of season he's having with Tampa if he had stayed in Montreal is fooling themselves.
He's a good young defenseman, playing around 13-14 min per game on the best team in the league.... of course he's gonna have some success.
Pretty sure Drouin in Tampa would be getting his fair share of points as well. |

Stay the course.
Just not getting the bounces.
Trade a 1st round pick for an Anaheim dman. Don't be picky which one. |

Drouin is clearly cancer. If he was on the Lightning, Stamkos would have his legs broken, Vasilevski would suck and Kucherov would demand out while they're in last place. |

You could say the same thing w/ Drouin in Tampa.
My point is, if you really wanted to rebuild, the Habs would be better with PK and Segachev.... They should never have made the Weber deal, that is when they should have started the rebuild instead. |

No ..your absolutely right! ..it's just that dmen are at such a ridiculous premium and I'm kinda old school that you build from the net out when you have an elite goaltender they can cover so many mistakes a bad or younger dcore might make(price)..and having a strong dcore can most the time cover for the forwards..you have the goaltending. .but price isn't available. .for whatever reasons? ..but imo having the Russian kid and mete on the back end..that's a nice start to any backend! Imho |

Agreed. The current defense has the MB stamp on it, and it's a heck of a lot worse than it was 2 years ago. This is a Swiss cheese defense. Maybe it wasn't great before, but it was pretty Gouda.
2 years of Markov at 6 or 5 years of Alzner at 5.5. Which would you prefer? |

My feeling is that the Habs need a scoring #1 centre. If you can't get that, then why trade Sergachev. I don't have a big issue talent wise in the swap, but the trade does not give you what you really need and makes you weaker on the backend. - Mashadar
Agreed. .great point |

disgree. you can get high picks and blue chip prospects for guys like Galchrnyuk, Pacioretty, Alzner, Byron, Davidson, Plekanec, Mithchell... - DoubleDown
Are you saying you can, or can't get High pick and blue chips for those guys.
