Tanner was on here after the Leafs won 5 in a row (4 without AM) and said the Leafs had just played four of their worst games of the year. It was a statement soley based on shots on net. I remember many many years ago watching the Habs play the Red army on new years eve. The game ended in a 3 -3 tie, Monteal outshot them something like 40 to 13, and to this day many say it was the best hockey game ever played. No one says Red Army was crap and only had 13 shots. They beat Dryden the best goalie in the NHL 3 times on 13 shots. Quality of shots counts Holy crap! Maybe not Leafs best, but to compare them to some of the ugly losses was a bit over the top.

I hated those lousy commie bastard Soviet teams, but damn, their puck control was unbelievable.

Full NMC/NTC for duration of contract to boot. Obviously.
- markmark

I expect he'll also include something about the radio in the lockeroom being adjusted to "reasonable volume levels" during the entirety of the contract.

tanner is an idiot troll.

i'm surprised he doesn't have a blog up today about the leafs being SC favorites this year, the yotes being SC favorites next year and how the leafs need to trade for OEL.

Now is roughly the time of season to take stock of one's team.
Usually around this time, you get a good sense of where a team will end up.
IMO

- Fakepartofme

on that note... take the 30 minutes required and read the melt down blog going on over in Habland!...

hilarious

Habs fans so focussed on what's going on or not with Carey Price... they are missing the forest for the trees. Team seems to be completely rudderless... no leadership - which begs the question what are leaders like Patches, Weber etc doing or not doing?

I honestly was surprised by the total lack of push back by the Habs on Saturday. When they didn't score on one of their 20 shot attempts from the perhiphery during the first... they seemed happy to pack their bags.

you gottta thing something will give... and it makes zero sense to fire the coach or trade Price(unless he wants out for some reason).

The threat of "accidental" assassination death is a great motivator.

I'd like to see Pacioretty signed in the 6-7 million range for sure.

But I think it's wishful thinking.

The guy has been a bargain for years, man will want to get paid.

- Scabeh

I think you are right but it might hurt more than it helps at this point. He's better overall than Kessel IMO, but signing him to $8 mil, when Price is making $10.5 , Weber another $8 will make it a tough go. They are better off signing JT for $10 if thats the number and getting some pieces. Montreal has some bad contracts as you know Shaw for sure and Alzner looking iffy.

It’s a tough situation no matter what they do. Resign him and have his 30 goals a year for a few more... trade him. Get some pieces and shake up a team who seems like they are spinning their wheels. Wouldn’t want the job of making the decisions around Montreal.
- GOLEAFS71

apparently Bergevin feels the same way...

tinker here... tinker there.

I think its time for Burke to go to Montreal - and bring Nonis with him.

You know, I was certain Shaw would be my scapegoat this season.... but he's actually one of the few who really seems to give a damn about how this season is failing miserably.

Jeff Petry is, without a shadow of a doubt, my most hated player on the Habs at the moment. Such a disappointment.

LEafs have won 6 straight - <3
Raps 4 - Good team but the NBA is just theatre.
Argos off to Grey Cup - Great comeback win!
TFC maybe going to final. - Definitely not freezing my Richard off to watch them play the Finals again if they make it. Will watch from home.

Blue Jays.....atkins and shapiro...dont ruin this. - No idea where they'll go.
Hoping with Jose moving on it will inspire some philosophy/structure changes

Weirdly, Benn looked like your best defenseman on Saturday.

if they make the decision to attempt to trade Pacioretty, then they really should also move Weber (if possible). Those two are the only ones that they have would be able to hold them up to some degree in the standings. Keep Galchenyuk and Drouin and dump as much of the mid-ages vets as possible.

Then grab as many French-Canadien draftees as they can... and hope one turns out....
always a good plan.

regarding Shaw... is he playing hurt? he appeared (from my viewpoint) very disinterested on Saturday.

Benn is just fine, probably playing too much right now as he's more of a very good third pairing guy imo.

You're in the Leafs blog - no need to explain this concept any further.

We lived it for about 20 years in a row.

Hell, we are still there.

Would be a good choice for sure. Might be time for Geoff Molson to hire a hockey guy to be president. One with experience and not based on Nepotism as Vancouver did. He can stick to selling beer.
