Damn. I didn't know much about him other than the whole neck thing. Thanks for posting that. |

Tampa is excellent, Yzerman has done an amazing job of signing players for under market value .Leafs have a few very good contracts as well. Seems to be a good way to go. Connor Brown will make 2.1 million and is on pace to score over 30 goals. How many of those are there in the league? - winsix

I think so. It's hard to figure out what he's saying.
You know when you're drunk and start a new thought before you've finished the previous one?
He's doing that. He can't stop slurring as well. - walshyleafsfan
Least the main host seems to be realistic. Nilan hates Patcioretty it seems. I like this show! |

I gave up tbh. - walshyleafsfan
It didn't get into the gruesome details but if IIRC, that Buffalo trainer actually had his hand INSIDE Malarchucks neck pinning the artery. So crazy. |

8-9 mil for Pacman seems rather high though? |

They're pretty much saying everything about the Leafs rebuild is exactly what they should do.
Other than Babcock, they won't mention names, but rather "a guy like Shanny", "an agitator like Kadri", "an American named like a Texan city #1 overall".
It's great.
I will say one thing. Everyone is now pretty much agreeing the Leafs have the best management staff in the league. - walshyleafsfan
Which is great to hear....but they have yet to win anything |

Tanner was on here after the Leafs won 5 in a row (4 without AM) and said the Leafs had just played four of their worst games of the year. It was a statement soley based on shots on net. I remember many many years ago watching the Habs play the Red army on new years eve. The game ended in a 3 -3 tie, Monteal outshot them something like 40 to 13, and to this day many say it was the best hockey game ever played. No one says Red Army was crap and only had 13 shots. They beat Dryden the best goalie in the NHL 3 times on 13 shots. Quality of shots counts Holy crap! Maybe not Leafs best, but to compare them to some of the ugly losses was a bit over the top.

This season feels weird at the 20 game mark. Right now, I feel like every team that isn't Tampa (/St Louis too) or Arizona is in such a blender. - markmark
Now is roughly the time of season to take stock of one's team.
Usually around this time, you get a good sense of where a team will end up.

Such a well rounded team. Offensive depth headed up by an amazing duo on the top line. Good/OK defensive depth lead by a stud. Then a quality young goaltender.
St Louis has had a bunch of "this should be the year" seasons so I can't really ever get sold on them. Tampa is looking like a team that will contend for at least a few years. - markmark
Remember when people were laughing at Stamkos last season for signing with them.
He may have been on to something, |

I wouldn't give him that much.
But his production does justify a significant raise from the 4.5M he's making.
He's been one of the top 5 best goal scorer in the game in the last 6 years after all... |

It’s a tough situation no matter what they do. Resign him and have his 30 goals a year for a few more... trade him. Get some pieces and shake up a team who seems like they are spinning their wheels. Wouldn’t want the job of making the decisions around Montreal. |

Marleaus been a bit quiet lately but overall has been great. (Probably from playing lots of C)
I think Hainsey has been the pleasant surprise for me. Pens fans (and many other teams for some reason) had us believing that he'd be some horrific Marincin level liability. Was he disliked by Pens fans because he was expected to be a #1 D or something? He's been pretty damn steady so far. |

He's a good hockey player and a decent scorer, a good contract for him would be in the 6-7 million range. Stamkos is way better, makes $8.5 and is worth it, Patchy-Patch is not in the same class IMO. Even with the cap going up, if player wants to win, they have to leave some money in the till like Stamkos did so that the team can sign alot of good players. Its going to be a hard choice, leave money on the table or play for a winner. |

I'd like to see Pacioretty signed in the 6-7 million range for sure.
But I think it's wishful thinking.

They have to sign him. Not much scoring in that lineup. Problem is Bergevin has not showed much restraint signing players.
