How are the Ducks doing so well without Getzlaf/Kesler/Fowler? While previously missing Lindholm and Vatanen?
- AdamFrench

The Bruins have been in a similar situation and have 1 less point.

Cooke was resposible, no one can tell intent, therefore if its based on reputation, he should have received a max suspension. Even without intent, a player is resposible for his stick and the damage it inflicts, how could the player's skate be exempt from this?
- winsix

You really think in a fraction of second he wielded the blade on the bottom of his foot and intentionally sliced a roughly two inch opening on the back of Karlssons leg????

Where do you draw the line? Should Tuttle have been suspended for the Malarchuck incident?

One of the worst all time. Scott Stevens is no better - but he's treated like royalty. The hit he made on Kariya was a disgrace.

They made him a hall of famer

benning is coming around with his drafting. his trades and FA's...meh.

but Doorion in ottawa made both benning and sakic look good in trades. i think that says a lot.

- Tumbleweed

Dorion is poop for sure. On Benning, luck happens in the draft, Boeser was a great pick up at 23 in his draft, but imo it was pure luck, just like Chiarelli's pick up of Pastrnak at 25. Sakic - redeemed himself a little with the Duchene deal, but that team is just a tire fire - and its his fault.

I'd like him more if he just stuck with scoring goals.
- Scabeh

Same with Marchand. The stupid poop he does drives me nuts

It's like come on man, you've proven to be one of the better players in the league. You don't have to do that sort of shenanigans to make yourself relevant.

When you say so well, they're ahead of:

Dallas - Perennial underachievers after being sexy pick (see Carolina)
Vancouver - Yep
San Jose - Old a poop and only about 7 forwards anyone knows
Minnesota - Everyone is injured as well
Edmonton - Hahah
Arizona - Yep

Their division being awful. Feels weird to say these days...

(Also, just eyeballing, but it looks like the back half of their schedule is much more difficult compared to what its been)

To be fair, and god knows I've learned to hate Marchand, he's been doing it a little less in the last few years.

And look at that, he's been a much better player.

I remember a time where his actions ended up hurting the Bruins in the playoffs way more than it would help them.

Watching him talk about the hit, and seeing Kariya in fantastic shape riding on his surfboard, put a smile on my face. Stevens gave every impression of being a total low-life, opposite of Kariya- total class.

demko is starting to look good in the ahl.

the kid the nucks picked up in the 1st this year is absolutely tearing it up.

heck, even mccan who he traded has stepped it up.

he's a glorified scout. not a gm.

I totally agree, but it still rears its ugly head every once in a while. I don't remember exactly what happened last year, but IIRC he was suspended twice. And one was for the last 2 games of the year when we were fighting for a playoff spot, I believe.

when you've been suspended on multiple occasions, you don't get the benefit of the doubt on anything.

I think you're right.

Actually that might have been the earlier one. I think the one towards the end of the season was one of those table top hits along the boards. I don't know what you call them. Clipping?

Edit: The one at the end of last season was a spear on Doctson.

Yup.
People kinda forget that.
9-7 not bad considering who they have had injured this year.

Which was my original point. I think that thought process was taken to the extreme in that case.

I don't know about the intent, frankly it's unimportant. If you high-sitck a player and do it accidentaly - its still a penalty, a skate blade is way more dangerous, why does the sam logic not apply? Yes Tuttle should have been suspended, he nearly killed the guy ffs.
