i think nj and nyr are free game.

you're splitting hairs to put a few borderline teams on your list. snow and lack of a long-term arena may get the isles on a few lists.

if he doesn't remain a Leaf, I would think his homestate NJ or his brother's team Hurricanes are highly preferred....but who knows

That and their attendance is historically atrocious.

The Canes have had 6 years with better attendance than the Isles BEST attended season. Think about that.

The Isles averaged more than 15,000 per game ONCE since 1986.

I'd think Detroit would be on his list. It's likely on most players lists. 😂

Sadly, that might be true these days.

I expect most FA's would not want to come to Toronto either, although that may have changed a little bit this year?

We'd take him but I don't know that we'd give up much in terms of current players for him. Maybe a depth D and a pick or two.

why would JVR be worth a blue chip D and a first? unless there was an agreement to sign long term with the new club.

Hey it's not as bad when Holland waived Kyle Quincey and then gave up a 1st round pick to get him back. The pick turned out to be... Wait for it... Andrei Vasilevsky.

every list must start with buffalo. isles and jackets are probably common ones.

No, I vomited. But that was Holmgren who made that deal. Hextall is not gonna trade a top young prospect and a 1st that could be a lottery pick for a winger who turns 29 in May. No chance.

it's not an outrageous price to pay for a rental. maybe a little expensive.

but it makes no sense for philly. or FLA for that matter.

there are other teams that make more sense if jvr is just a rental.

i think wedgie mentioned - if you have an anti-canadian city bias, the list gets done quickly. if not, it's a little harder to predict.

The Isles and Panthers should both move. The NYC area doesn't need 3 teams and no one in south Florida gives a flying (frank) about the Panthers. Move one to Quebec, one to Seattle and put an expansion team in the Toronto area which is a large metro area that could easily support 2 teams. 32 teams, better hockey markets, problem solved. You lose the south Florida market but you gain Seattle and you just gained Vegas so I don't see it being a big deal.

You lose nothing in Brooklyn, everyone there is a Ranger fan anyway.

I'm still waiting for the Flyers to obtain Byfuglien. According to the well connected Mr. Ek, this was a done deal at least 3,348,712 times.

I think a deal would have to involve a mid range player and a conditional pick. Which IMO means he stays a leaf at least until July.

Isles averaged less than 14,000 fans per game last year, they are 30th in the league right now with an average of 11,600. The team is one point out of first in the Metro and features a legit star player in Tavares. Face it, they just don't have a big enough fanbase to justify their staying in LI. The NYC metro area doesn't need 3 teams, it's overkill.

The Isles have had an average attendance of less than 14,000 people 28 times out of 45 seasons. That's incredibly poor.

When is the last time the Flyers won the Stanley Cup? Brooklyn isn't a good fit for Islanders agreed but if they get to build a new arena at the Belmont site they should be ok. Also, the Islanders have one of the most passionate fan bases in the league. On the ice, they have a budding superstar in Matt Barzal and have some good prospects in Bridgeport. Plus they have the assets to bring in a good dman and or goalie. Stick to watching the Flyers ...let's see how they do this week...

JVR 10 team no trade list:

- Winnipeg (-50degrees October to May + ugly women)
- Edmonton (Chia and playing 2nd fiddle to McJesus)
- Buffalo (no windows)
- Arizona (too hot and not sure to which city team will be moved to in 2 years)
- Colorado (Sakic)
- Boston (JVR doesn't do any hitting)
- Ottawa (Dion)
- Carolina (moved to another city in 2 years)
- Tampa (JVR would end up on 4th line there)
- Dallas (Benn/Seguin/Radulov etc. would bully JVR too much)

They didn't draw worth a poop in Nassau.

They've broken the 15,000 mark once since 1986.

ONCE.

And the 14,000 mark only 6 times in the last 31 years.

What does the Flyers winning the Cup have to do with arena attendance or the size of a team's fanbase. You can responding like a putz all you want, but the fact remains, the Isles don't draw squat and they have a limited fan base. When the Isles play road games, do you see hundreds of fans in the stands wearing Isles gear? Yeah, I didn't think so. You see that routinely when the Flyers are on the road.

Sorry if I struck a nerve, but facts or facts. Oh, and here are some more facts:
Flyers 16-17 average attendance: 19,644, 100% plus capacity
Flyers 17-18 average attendance to date: 19,336 99% capacity

Better luck next time.

But they won 4 cups from 1980-1983 so attendance is irrelevant

Flyers fans: Would you give up Sanheim or Hagg + a first for JvR?

i wouldn't give up Hagg for JVR straight up, let alone throw in a first.

put the pipe down.

sanheim + first for JvR?
