I agree, they need to keep up the trend thy have been.
The Blackhawks are 5th in the NHL in Corsi after 20 games; They were 27th in the NHL after 10 games

isnt that some weird adjustment though? I saw that on Reddit this morning too. Then a poster corrected to mention that 5x5 they're 10th or vice versa or something

Really looking forward to tomorrow’s game against the Lightning; think it will be a real test and level setter for where the Hawks are right now. Not sure the Pittsburgh game proves anything despite the Pens being the two-time defending SC champion. I really expect the Hawks to come out energized and ready to play at a higher level than they’ve shown lately. Anything less will be very disappointing and speak to a lack of leadership — from the coaches and players — that has to be addressed during the next quarter of the schedule.

You're right, I didn't notice the stats were in all situations, but 10th is still good.

Watching Sports Net hockey at noon . Don't know why I hate all the leafs propaganda they spew . Nick Kypreos was taking to Roberto Loungo and trying to be smart he say's wanted to tell Loungo if he wanted to shut it down early on his contract he could not use the rash excuse ,somebody in Chicago already did that one . What a frinking jerk Kypreos is .He's a done nothing goon who claim to fame is falling on Grant Fuhr and injuring him . For this piece of garbage to be calling out a future HOF players is disgusting to say the least .

Q gets a pass from me on this Bear.

Why you say?
Well, other than Q being stubborn (if a guy PROVES he cannot play his off-side, don't make him play that side -- like he did with TVR all too often. TVR was crap on the left side but OK on the right).

In Murphy's case, I think he's actually played better on that off-side. That's not a huge surprise to me, Murphy is what, 6'4"? Gotta have 35/36/37" sleeve length which equates to long arms.

I've posted this before --my preference playing D is playing the off-side. Mainly because, if you can skate good enough and are able to transition skating forward to backward solidly, playing your off-side allows you to keep your body closer to the center of the ice surface and force more plays to the boards.

RH shot - top hand on stick is left hand. Murphy is able to cover a heck of a lot more ice with playing the off side while keeping his big body in the center of the ice. If you are trying to cover as much ice as possible, you have much great control (top hand controls stick) with top hand closer to boards instead of top hand near center of ice surface. Hopefully that makes some sense.

While Murphy isn't a "great" skater nor fast -- he does have good mobility and I think this is why we're seeing better play from him on that side.

Also -- just because you play the off-side doesn't mean you have to "Hjalmarsson" everything out of the zone. I never understood why Nik did that -- turned his back to center ice and almost everything moved out on his backhand. There is no reason he couldn't have turned his body and used the forehand -- you don't see Murphy doing the same thing as Nik.

That’s a great explanation. One I’ve been waiting for someone to post. Appreciate your insight.

I think for Toews/Kane/Panik/Saad and even Sharp, the chances will start to find the back of the net. It isn't like they aren't getting shots on goal.

After the first 2 games of the year, the top 5v5 shooters for the Hawks are Kane, Toews, Saad, Keith, Sharp, Panik with 199 shots and 7 goals among them. I can't see those guys shooting 3.5% as a group much longer. Most of those guys usually shoot in the 8.5 - 12% range at 5v5 and I think they will start to beat a few goalies.

- breadbag

I would have to agree that many of the forwards are snake bitten, especially Saad, Toews, and Panik. They generate a lot of chances but not a lot going in. Water will finds its level eventually and hopefully things will start to even out over the course of the season. Better to be snake bitten now rather than later.

If you have such a hardon for Kyprios just google the fight he had with Vandenbussche. Might put a smile on your yap.

Will be fun (scary?) to see the Hawks defense against Kucherov+Stamkos. Should be a good game tomorrow!

The issue that will not go away is directly related to the two Blackhawk core players whose game has gone astray - gone as far as the rafters in the old building.

No one apparently has asked and no one is saying piddly so instead of bashing our heroes of past Cups, we really can only shrug our shoulders and wonder what medical issue, what concussion worries, what different issues today than possibly was true when Nashville thoroughly bounced us out of the playoffs.

It is almost like saying about both of them, who shows up tonight....Johnny B Good or Johnny & Sea(brook) you later.

It is comical and disgusting, sad description of Chicago media when no one plain out loud just asks for an explanation. Let me go one step farther, what has the Canadien Press said about them?

So Saturday vs the PenguinsToews and Seabrook resembled more their old image than the buffoon impersonation.....which means....extrapolate.......

I am guessing with the long season, the career to date wear and tear, the concussion history, that is only part of the explanation

Earlier in I think this blog, JJ tossed around the political football on this and a completion was not the result. However I do want to believe that there is some physical issue which takes a toll on them. Toews not able to push or hold balance last playoffs eerily reminded me of the former prospect Beach and his travail.

I have trouble accepting Seabrook skating is hampered just by age developing down.

We will watch and maybe curse when they go through their good and bad moments. It just seems that injuries are too common to avoid in hockey, either minor play through or larger problems. So I do not expect to see both of our heroes play as well as they did last game, in all the games this season. I hope they have a tiger in the tank like that cereal commercial of yester-year portrays.

Was it so long ago like yester year when we were a real playoff contender. It will take a lot of things to work out again, including a Johnny B Good by both of them.

Stephen Peat played in 130 games over really 3 seasons for the Caps.

He had a career ATOI of 5:38 (733 minutes total).

He had a career Average PIM per game of 1.80 (234 PIM total).

I don’t know how many fights or the major/minor penalty split.

We can debate what bowman should ve done like when sharp came off his 32 goal season I believe in 2014 that's when he should ve been traded or at the draft to Dallas for supposedly two 2nd rounders and prospect or signing bickell to the contract when it shoyld ve been a 1 year deal prove it or trading seabrook after the winning in 15th or not screwing up the rfa's paper filing to late that cost the hawks half the team
etc.. To me its very quiet with the hawks in reference to trade rumors and knowing that they need help at d and center, so Justin or anyone else that have sources anything going on as far as things brewing?

Maybe the longer they leave Vinnie in the minors, the angrier he'll get... then when he finally gets his call, Q can let him wreck havoc on teams.

He'll be Q's secret weapon.

If you want a bump defensively try to pry Julius Honka out of Dallas.

It seems like they don't realize just how good he is. His underlying numbers are tremendous and Dallas seems determined not to play him for some reason.
