at this point, pay Kane or totally blow it up

Q

Well, as much as I have ragged on Jack’s lackadaisical play this year, especially away from the puck, he would be the last guy I would want traded. Rather, I want him coached up properly as it is very, very evident no previous coach sans Bylsma has ever done it. Get him to play consistently like a beast and my God he could very well be the best player in the league.

That said, Yes, including Eichel. If the return was good enough, which I doubt it would be given the risk the Sabres would need to have covered if he ever did reach his full potential ... why wouldn’t the team consider it?

Again, not advocating for it...answering the question posed, and wondering what such a deal would look like.

- IonSabres

of course jack would be the one active sabre not included in the blow up

There won't be a blow up, there'll be a re-tooling. GMJB will have a top pick this year and grab a Dman, he had Mittlestadt, money being freed up soon, and assets from a possible Kane trade. He'll use it all to start reshaping the roster the way he wants to see it. I do, however, see Sam as not being part of the team by next season. He has not progressed the way anyone hoped, and I think GMJB saying I'm not willing to talk contracts with you right now is a sign that he is not in love with Sam on this roster.

There are wagons, and there are horses.

Kane, ROR and Jack are horses. There are 20 guys on the bench every night.

17 guys are a lot of weight for three to pull. Asking 2 guys to pull 18 makes it even worse

Only marginally worse than they are for you. Actually probably much worse for you since everyone and their mother had you guys as Cup contenders...
- Wetbandit1

Yeah they are pathetic. Oh well, nothing can be done about it.

People may not like trading Kane but he might get us a buttload before the deadline And a potential number one defenseman in the future

Ducks 1st , Larsson for Kane
Vegas 1st , Theodore for Kane

Tell me that doesn't make your mouth water

A. You are one of way too many dopes who measure a player's contribution only by points. I'm not wasting my breath explaining it to you, because you have shown incredible resistance to understanding simple things.

B. Because I can't resist this one note: Even if we use points as the only measure of his worth he has points in 11 of the 20 games the Sabres have played. That's not streaky. It's even more notable when you understand that 64% of his zone starts are in the defensive end.

So just stop, Gerbe. Go to the beach.

But, but he’s slowing Jack down!

For those who subscribe to this perspective, I ask that you give consideration to Harrington’s article this morning.
I’m not a fan of his, but he hit the nail squarely on the head.
Kane’s on pace for 44 goals this season, many as a direct result of being on Jack’s wing...which translates to assists, it apparently those don’t count.
Jack’s issue isn’t Kane, it is with his refusal to shoot more when he has glorious opportunities...take thos shots and he’ll drive his own production higher. Kane will get his goals, usually on feeds from Jack when Jack doesn’t have the better opportunity.

Rico Martin was the same type of player, and rode wing with Gilbert ... forming a deadly duo, trio when Robert was added. That line is very comparable in composition to Jack, Kane and Rhino....and was one of the best lines in hockey.

The Sabres suck so much I'm in root for them to lose mode like McEichel year. That was the last fun, intense year where I was on edge every game hoping they'd lose. Now with the league instituting the draft lottery, they took that away too. At least when they lose the odds go up. I would say tank, but they aren't tanking they just suck.

They need an upgrade with Reinhart on that wing and that line could be very formidable.

I tried watching the game last night, another boring poop game thrown out there by a crappy collection of players led by a rookie coach who is currently in over his head.
I hope Housley learns boat loads from this season, I can rationalize that as a learning experience.
As far as the players go, must be the dumbest collection ever assembled as this makes 2 systems they apparently cannot play.

I've been saying since I can't even remember that Kane was a keeper and now he holds most if not all the cards. He is a horse almost every game and you trade for players like him. We'll see what happens but with Sabres playing like crap and he could play anywhere in the league why would he want to stay? He's a goner me thinks.

You are spot on with this, he is exactly who teams trade for, selfish yes, produces YES!

That said, I do see a benefit in trading him given where this team is ... 3-4 years away from contending...at that point he’ll be 30 with high mileage given his style of play. That is the only reason I trade him and try to get the best return possible for a young player on the verge of breaking out.

I don't think he's that selfish, he gets a bad rap. Anyway, I think he's going out West somewhere.

And I know it's not about points but he's not playing the two-way game he supposed to be playing don't give me that crap making almost the same as Stamkos and you want me to cool my Jets

Yes or no is he playing like his first year ?

You mean to replace Sam? I think that is what you meant.

You’ll get your wish, I see Sam being traded, hence why they reunited him with Jack, to drive his production thereby enhancing his value.

Should it be embarrassing that I think of the draft and our position in it as a form of playoffs for the Sabres and Bills?

Not unless you consider that bad for fans of both teams over 17 and 8 years...cause normally by the 1/3rd point of the season that is where the focus turns to.

Let’s hope Rosen poops the bed for remaining season so he can fall to the 7-9 Bills.

4 even strength points in 20 games

that translates into 16 5 on 5 points for 80 games

- homiedclown

Right...
but I don’t think anyone is saying he’s playing WELL right now

That’s why I don’t get the “overrated” tag u have him
I’d say more like “underperforming”

Guy is asked to play an insanely heavy defensive load

Of course O’Reilly’s gonna be inconsistent scoring points when he has to take just about every freaking faceoff in his own end
