Shutting down mcdavid the first game set the notion that this team was different, improved even. I honestly dont see this team being anything more than half of a small step better than last year. - Codes1087
I think they are a much better team, they play more aggressive and have much more depth. All our best players with the exception of Tanev, Vanek are young.
Sedins are playing less and Sutter is being used in a defensive role, those 2 things alone point to this team being much better. |

I’m the minority but Gudbransen is our best defence man other than Taney. - thundachunk

Entertainment wise i dont think anyone will complain.
No megna. No chaput. Better systems. Less sedins. More kids. These points in itself make fot a more entertaining game and a better shot at winning. My point is, while all these improvements have been made, why are we so similar to where we were last year then? I just feel its almost all lipstick on a pig. We see the fruits of our labour with our 1st line reaping the benefits, but without real talent throughout the line up, we wont be able to accomplish much more than what we are seeing. |

Time will tell. They will fold after Christmas or get better. If certain players get their mojo back this team will be very good. |

I wont miss watching a game this year, but my expectations are as low as they get. A win is a bonus. It sounds pessimistic but i am really just anxiously waiting the TDL. I think if we can sell half of what i am hoping, we will enter the draft, and next year a much much better team. I also thinking freeing up 14 mill, to go along with the cap increasing, makes for a really interesting offseason. |

I don't think you can necessarily judge the teams success at this time by points in the standings vs last year. They have been more competitive in their losses this year for the most part. Even that SJ game they were doing a lot of good things.
Last year they really fell apart at the end of the season as well which I predict they won't this year.
I find it interesting you say there isn't real talent throughout the lineup which is again one of the biggest improvements this year. It's not elite but all of our forwards are legit NHLers and most the defense even with a slew of injuries.

Every year we hope for TDL bounty and for the most part have been disappointed, for your own sanity I don't suggest pinning your hopes on that day. |

So they can sign a bunch of UFA’s? You know those players would all be over 25 right... |

Maybe he’s hoping for one trade, so if they accomplish half that he would be happy. |

Im not saying their not nhl calibre players. But to say we have the same talent as the rest of the NHL is not accurate.
Our centers include horvat, henrik, sutter, gagner.
A team like nashville has johanson, turris. Bonino, sissons. If you look at their line mates compared to our canuck center linemates we start to be able to differentiate the talent. Im not going to compare our D with theirs cause it makes me sad all day. Our players, outside our first line, in my opinion are average at best nhl players |

No not at all. Lots of players need new contracts. I dont mind signing ufas either, just not to multi year or high dollar contracts. Ie lucic, brouwer, LE, backes. |

If history has taught me anything to do with the TDL, its taught me to expect nothing, but be uncontrollably happy when it happens |

I think Bonino and Sutter are a wash, and Turris and Bo are pretty close. We are missing one more top line center but the other two are comparable |

Missing a true top line center is a massivr hole though. |
