They're digging themselves into a hole and they need to turn it around pretty quickly or making the playoffs will be a difficult task.
- MJL

It would be nice to see them play better and have a shot at playoffs....they just have all the traits of a mediocre team....lack of attention to the defensive side of the puck from some of their best players...defensive lapses...poor discipline....this is what a quasi rebuild looks like.
They have the talent to be a playoff team....however they are not a good team.

I sure as hell did and I was not impressed. The coach does not have the players playing disciplined hockey, real simple. I love Gost but if he had done that in Toronto he would have been sat down by the coach. Why Weise on the pp, why first line vs first line in a home game, why Simmonds who cant skate starting OT, I can go on and on but I am sure this is all over your head MJL

Let's start with this. Explain to me how playing your best defensive 2 way center, Couturier, and your top defenseman, Provorov, against the opposition's top line is poor coaching?

I agree that those issues are present but that kind of stuff can and should be cleaned up. Voracek's decision making and effort on the winning goal against was just absurd. What should Hakstol do, bench him?

There is no irony. I comment on opinions, not people.
- MJL

the problem with this is that you comment on everyone's opinion if they do not agree with you or has anything negative to say about this team.

Let it go brah.

Fanboys will fanboy. This club doesn’t deserve our time. (frank) it.

Take out those mystical unicorn years us younger crew haven’t experienced and it’s a bunch of meh.

Biggest positive for me was Patrick.....best he has looked since first couple of games.
- landros 2

He looked better than he has in the past. He's getting more involved and is much more noticeable. He still has a long way to go.

That goal he scored showed his skill and hockey sense. A lot of guys just would have shot it on the forehand. Dragging it to his backhand opened up more of the net.

I don't know if you can bench your top point producer.....but he shouldn't have too....Vorecek as a leader on this team and should be called out, by the other leaders..some of his high risk decisions....Christ. That's effort.
I don't know if I would put him out in the next overtime ...the problem for Hakstol is he needs him. I will say this though ....better coaches have benched better players....and sometimes those better coaches were fired not to long after. But that type of effort time and time again by a guy that's a huge part of the team doesn't bode well for the Flyers playoff aspirations.

Voracek has been a defensive liability for a considerable period of time and his defensive lapses have cost the Flyers numerous times. The problem is benching or keeping one of your top offensive players off the ice in OT or in games is biting off your nose to spite your face. I agree on the leadership comment.

What a pass to filpulla in a prime scoring spot which he of course flubbed with about 30 seconds left in the game. That’s Patrick’s Game right there

You can see a tremendous talent just waiting to put it all together. I'd love to see him on the right side of Coots and Giroux for a few shifts.

I don't see them playing Patrick on the Wing. They like him at center. I agree with them.

The Flyers are a so-so team that is short one of their better Dmen, yeah that's AMac and that's the reality right now, and for the forseeable future will be missing their other veteran Dman. Now that Dman may be an idiot, but he does contribute on the PK which was abysmal today. When teams like this struggle, they find ways to lose. It simply is what it is. Right now, they just don't have the overall talent to overcome adversity. They can't afford the small lapses that are killing them right now.

Today's lineup featured 4 rookies, an AHL Dman, 2 2nd year guys and some mediocre vets. Until they are healthy, this is what it will be . Often more than anything it's depth that separates the good teams from the bad.

Help is on way. Personally, especially when it comes to forwards, I think the GM is a bit too cautious when it comes to development, but I'll just have to live it.

All that being said, there are a few things I hope to see soon:

Weise out of the lineup. If Lindblom isn't ready, give Vecchione a shot. Weise needs to go.

If Weal is out for the next game, waive Read and give Martel a look

Find someone someone to replace Lappy as PK coach asap, he's had ample time to show improvement and I just don't see it.

Other than that, we're just going to have to be patient and hope these highly regarded prospects we've been stockpiling get here soon.

Not as a permanent move, just a handful of games.

My feeling is he's been given too much responsibility too early at center. Especially since he's still rounding his game into shape after taking so much time off, earlier from the injury, and recently from the concussion. He's still needs to get his legs under him and improve his first couple of steps.

I believe we'd see his creativity more with two better players. It'd be better for his confidence, and he wouldn't be as taxed as a center. Plus it drops Jake down and adds some much needed offense to another line.
